    Rhyme Or Reason

Is there any rhyme or reason to when you direct pass what players are assigned to what buttons? It seems to be random. For example on the XBox, I wish the A button was always the PG, the B button was always the shooting guard, and so on. Does anybody know how the direct passing works?

They are always the same for each player except the PG. When someone has the ball, the PG takes his button. The rest stay the same. So if A is the PF, he is always A unless he has the ball. If he has the ball, the PG is A.

Exactly. All of the non-PG players are the same, and the PG takes the button of the player with the ball.

I have to admit, that annoyed me about the previous Live games too. I like the way ID 2003 did it, where the buttons corresponded to one position only. Like A is point guard, ALWAYS. B is shooting guard, white is center, black is small forward. No matter who has the ball those are the designated icons. I don't get why they would switch it up like that.

For the first time EVER in a b-ball game, I'm actually not using direct pass this year. I am having no problems at all just using the control stick and pressing the pass button. They must have done some work on this because last year it was AWFUL.

I agree. The passing is great. I just wish that when I wanted to start the break, I knew which button corresponded to my shooting guard or small forward on the wing. It'll take some getting used to, that's all.
