On offense:
3-pt - self explanatory
Shoe - These guys will sometimes just dunk right over people, though definitely not always. I don't think I've ever been able to get off a clean dunk with a player directly in my path EXCEPT when it's someone with this ICON. Seems to have some relationship to the hand (see below).
On Defense:
Lock - I don't think it really does anything for me, but cpu players with this symbol are almost impossible to beat with freestyle
Hand - This is the key for me. If you try and block a player with a defender who doesn't have this, you are likely going to only alter his shot (may still go in) or are going to send him to the line. Guys who have the hand, though, are MONSTERS and get off very clean blocks when players try and drive into them. It is essential to have one of these guys on the floor at all times. Also, I'm pretty sure they are the only players who can clean block a guy with the shoe (from above) but I'm not 100% sure on that. There seems to be some kind of relationship between the 2, though, and if someone can figure it out I'd love to know. I'll keep working at it.
Hope that helps some people.
Oh yeah, I also noticed that the strength rating of big men is super important for determining who can 'move' who when backing down. It seems to me that if you are stronger than someone (higher strength rating) you can move them a step backward. If you are ALOT (don't know exactly) stronger you can move them a couple steps. If you are tied, the defense wins, and if the D is at all stronger you can't move him an inch. This is now a big part of my strategy when scouting lineups at the start of a game.
Good Luck.
