I did some checking on Quicksilver and Philstats sliders and I noticed that the DUNK vs LAYUP FREQ is only listed on the USER side and none on the CPU side,it has a DUNK FREQ,DUNK PERCENT and LAYUP PERCENT.So in order to stop the CPU from dunking as much I'd assume you'd make an adjustment to the CPU not to DUNK as frequently or adjust the CPU not to be as successful at it,Someone tell me if this makes any sense.GO BUCKEYES

moving the slider to the left will make the players do more layups while moving it to the right will give you more dunks.

I don't think its all that simple, not all players in the NBA can dunk. There is DUNK vs LAYUP block ability and theres DUNK vs LAYUP freq they are not for the same purpose.I would look at it like this,if you want more or less DUNKS then adjust the DUNK freq for that particular activity as in LESS DUNKS means MORE LAYUPS.If your team does'nt have players who can DUNK then I would adjust the DUNK percent to make that happen.Same for the LAYUP pecentage. The sliders for these type of shots seem to be possible by the freq.and percentage.Recap here,OK if I want more/less DUNKS I adjust the DUNK vs LAYUP freq I use 50,for their sucess,I adjust the perct.for either a DUNK PERCT. or LAYUP PERCT.shot to be sucessful. If your player is better at LAYUPS then he should attempt a LAYUP if he's better at DUNKS then he should attempt a DUNK.These are only my observations from tweaking around the game if anyone has a better explaination on this by all means let me know.GO BUCKEYES

                        Re: NAME THAT SLIDER!!!?....

User dunk vs. layup determines whether (when you use the dunk button) the player will opt to do a dunk or a layup. It's that simple. Obviously a player with no dunk rating will still layup no matter where the slider is, but if it is turned all the way down, then a player like T-Mac will do alot more layups when you use the dunk button.

For the CPU it determines the likelihood of whether or not they will try a jumper or a dunk/layup.

I've done a bunch of messing around with them and am pretty confident that is right.

As for these ones here is what I think:

On-Ball D assist seems to control how 'sticky' you are on defense. Try turning it all the way down and you will see how hard it is to stay in front of a ball carrier. When it is really high you almost teleport into position. I messed with this one a bit and then opted to leave it as-is.

On ball physical D - controls how much you or the CPU get 'bumped' when tyring to mash your way into traffic with the ball. Turn it off and you can basically plow your way into the lane without doing anything special. Turn it up and you literally can't touch anyone without getting hammered. I turned this one down slightly and have left it there.

Fakeout - this seems to determine whether or not your freestyle moves make the defender get his ankles broken. Turn it way down and you can break guys ankles at will, turn it up and they are like stone. For the User, I assume it is set to 100 because yo never get your ankles broken when you are controlling a player on defense. But, if you turn it down then a player doing a freestyle move may make you get your ankles broken (you will play the animation and watch helplessly as the guy goes right by). I turned the CPU slider down a bit so I can get by someone at times on Superstar. I left the User one at the regular setting - I don't like that idea at all.

Poor release - if you mistime releasing your jumper at the peak you will see the shooter either 'pull the string' if you're early or 'double clutch' if you are late. When you do that it seems your shots don't go in very often. I haven't tested this out, but I assume if you turn this up it won't matter if you are early or late. You can always set the shot control to CPU instead of User and get the same effect. Again, I left this one alone.

Hope that helps. I've figured out almost all of them, so feel free to fire away if you have more.
