A feature that I don't think is getting nearly enough credit in this year's version of Live is the Off-Ball-Player-Control. This has COMPLETELY changed the way I play a basketball game. Once you REALLY sit down and learn to use this, it is truely a great feature.
I use the Sixers and run a motion offense and the OBPC allows me to free Iverson up for big shots. It also allows me to set back picks to free up "Big Dog". On one play, I used OBPC with Iverson....started from the baseline, as I cut up to the top of the key with my defender following me, I make a quick cut back to the basket using the freestyle control and I have Eric Snow throw me a perfect alley-oop pass which I catch and lay it up and get fouled (3 pt play
). I swear I must have replayed that play over and over again. (I really wish we could save replays). I love the ability to use freestyle controls off the ball. It is a great way to free up your star players.
You should use OBPC when your offense is struggling or if a player is hot, or on a big possesion. Also use it to set picks and such. It really adds depth to the gameplay IMO.
To get the most out of OBPC, you should try using it while running offensive sets whether it be motion, triangle, etc. Go to the playbook section, choose an offense, know where you are suppose to go in that offensive set. Thats it. This way you can run your player off a pick or make a cut to the basket more effectively. When u score it is even more satisfying.
I didn't use it that much (if at all) in my 1st couple of games, but now, I can't play without it. Great feature IMO.
I bought Live hoping that it would pass some time by before ESPN released. Now, I don't know if I will even get ESPN...at least not yet. NBA Live has been very fun and has exceeded my expectations. ESPN will have to be absolutely spectacular to pull me away from Live cuz I'm having so much fun with it.
