WHY TWO BUTTONS?????
For anyone on this board that is considered a NBA Live [censored you naughty boy] don't take this personal. I went out and bought Live even though I prefer ESPN. And I admit Live is pretty fun. BUT why do I need two buttons for shooting? The pro-hop button is cool even though it is abusive. But why do I need a dunk button and a shooting button. I know EA says for more control but who is going to shoot the ball when they are in dunking range anyway? I think it was a way for EA to say look what we have and you don't. Any comments?Tags: None -

Well it is an option. If you go to the controller config you can change it to where one button controls everything. At least it is on the Xbox version. This gives you a button for pass, shoot, spin move and pro-hop.

Re: WHY TWO BUTTONS?????
I think the definition of "dunking range" is very subjective, if not a misnomer altogether. It's about "dunking situations" and not "dunking range". There are situations that call for short jumpers, even if I am theoretically close enough to attempt a dunk. There are situations that call for layups instead of short jumpers. The whole point is that I am able to choose which I want to attempt in what situation.
In past games, there have been many situations where I have been close to the basket and wanted to attempt a layup or dunk, but instead end up shooting an ugly short shot. There have also been many situations where I wanted to take a short jumper, but instead went into a dunk or layup attempt, oftentimes driving into a defender that wouldn'e be able to contest my shot had I simply pulled up for the jumper.
There are features in Live 2004 that are flash over substance, but I guarantee you, the dedicated layup/dunk button is NOT one of them. Choices like this are good. I would gladly remap the "pro hop" function to the analog stick for a "bounce pass" button if I could.Comment

Re: WHY TWO BUTTONS?????
Pretty simple Bro...
Let's say you blow by your man and your on the way to the bucket, but you see their center coming over to help. 2 buttons give you the option to try to bang on him or pull up for the J. Without those buttons, you hit shoot and just hope for the best. Just hoping for the best in any given situation usually comes out pretty sh*tty for the hoper.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: WHY TWO BUTTONS?????
nay. I had LIVE from release up until sunday. The 2 buttons is something that would really be nice for all b-ball games to have. This is something that gives you more controll of what u want to do. Once you get used to it you'll see why this is good.
I abused the crud out of pro hop & freestyle(again) on and offline. Everyone knows how to cheese with it. The game got annoying after 5 days of play with having played 50+ games on and offline. Atleast it held me down till 2k4 for a bit. I see the improvements EA is trying to do. It was just too many things at the end of it though.
