I hear what you're saying, but with enough practice you can hold off the run. People complain about the "comeback AI" in Madden as well... to be quite honest, it's all in how you play the game. When the CPU is making that run, you HAVE TO switch up what you're doing. This WILL work. It's whether or not you continue doing the same thing over and over.
If your players start missing layups while the CPU is mounting a comeback, try a mid range jumper. Just whatever you do, try not to get frustrated and doing the same thing over and over. It helps!

And... make sure you have CPU assistance OFF (just in case you have it on)

Oh noooo!! I just enables the cheat logic for the game. It keeps the scores close throughout the game. So if you have a 15 point lead going into the 4th quater, expect to lose that lead.
Please tell me you were'nt playing with it on.
