NBA Live 13 is getting some goodwill publicity today but faces an enormous challenge from now until the first Tuesday in October, when both it and NBA 2K13 will hit shelves. It's going up against a sales and quality leader that has had two years as the only option for NBA fans. That's two years of them playing with its control set, two years of them building up players and franchises in their career modes, two years of playing with and against the sport's all-time greatest stars, all of whom, including Michael Jordan, have inked deals with 2K Sports.

EA Sports Keeps NBA Live in the Game, but Can It Compete?
http://kotaku.com/5887824/ea-sports-...can-it-compete
Today's confirmation of NBA Live 13 is nominally news, and it's hardly a surprise that EA Sports would distance itself from the Elite name and start over. Until we know how this game will be different, all it means is that NBA 2K will have a competitor after two years running unopposed. In the void left by Elite's collapse, 2K Sports turned in games that were, legitimately, the best in series history at the time of release. One of them, NBA 2K11, is still widely played more than 18 months later.

Hopefully. EA needs to go back to the basics. They need to take the elements that made 05 so popular and successful, and build on it..with the All-Star Weekend and everything. I feel like they tried to do too much on the next-gen system. I love 2k, but it's nothing like the love i used to have for NBA Live.Sixers/Panthers/Tarheels

Any form of competition is good. I expect 2k to raise their game again because EA will be coming out swinging.Comment

Re: EA Sports Keeps NBA Live in the Game, but Can It Compete?
I sorta want NBA Live to compete, but I also want them not to, so EA Sports can focus on NHL/NFL and let 2K deal with NBA.
If everything worked out, SCEA would get MLB, 2K would get NBA,EA Sports would get NHL,NFL.
Main thing I like about 2K over EA Sports games is the ____ today feature, I like the updated commentary feel as well as those updated graphics. So playing in the middle of a month, then seeing real life stats/standings while playing exhibition mode, its real great.Comment

Re: EA Sports Keeps NBA Live in the Game, but Can It Compete?
If so, that is cool, and I may participate in that. But I agree, I think Live 13 will be very solid. They've had 2 years to craft something great, and if they were building on Live 10, that game had a very solid foundation. So I expect good things from EA.Comment

I'm hoping those 2 years was definitely enough time for EA to give us a solid product which they can continue to build on toward the future. It will feel good again to actually have a choice to choose from this time around, I love competition.

Re: EA Sports Keeps NBA Live in the Game, but Can It Compete?
i just hope they make the game and players look more realistic in movement and feel. I hate that nba live players still move like robots after all these years. Elite had a horrible look so i hope they built from live 10 while prefecting animations and graphics. Also no more superspeed dribbling or movements. Throw away the arcade feel and go the simulation route or they have no chance against 2kComment

Re: EA Sports Keeps NBA Live in the Game, but Can It Compete?
i hope they did not build from any previous engine. the player movement/animation was horrible.
This was/is there chance to get back in the game vs 2k by building from scratch using an updated engine and avoiding all the crappy animation issues from the past.
get decent movement and basics down, add a few signature animations, and full editability, and people will buy it.Comment
