    Ratings Questions Regarding Shot Control

1.How much are player ratings taken into account when you play with shot control Set to 'user'?

2.When having shot control set to 'CPU', I assume it means that it relies solely on the player's given attributes whether he makes the shot or not.

3.If you consider yourself to be a hardcore sim guy which one is better if question #2 is true?

Re: Ratings Questions Regarding Shot Control

When shot control is on User, it is up to the User to release the button at the peak of the shooter's animation. Release it too early and you will see your player 'pull the string' and short-arm it. Release it late and your player will do a double-clutch animation. Both of these shots have less chance of going in than a perfect release.

Shot control set to Auto or whatever simply means that every shot will be a perfect release. Other than that the chance of a shot going in is the same regardless of the setting, it's just a matter of whether or not you want to time the release yourself or just mash the button.

A few other things I've noticed that are related: Poor shooters have a smaller 'window' of time in which to hit that perfect release on the harder skill levels. Just take Shaq out to the 3-pt line and try to time the perfect release on Superstar. Almost impossible.

Also, once you are inside the FT line, players no longer do Ray Allne-like jumpers, but use 1 and 2 handed inside shots. With these shots the penalty for not itting the perfect release seems much less severe. I think this is so you can sort of intentionally alter your shot to avoid blockers. I'm not really sure if it's the same for all players, or if this also has something to do with player ratings, but I'm working on it.
