I crossed a guy over from right to left, as I was shifting gears it just popped. As i was falling to the ground I turned around to see who had thrown the 25 pound weight at my leg, because that is what it felt like. Felt like someone hit me in the leg with something really hard, but there was no one behind me.
I opted for the casts, not surgery. There is only a 2% difference in the change you will re-ruptute one from cast and surgery. Why get cut if you do not have to. And even if I would have took the surgery route, I would have still been stuck in a cast for the same amount of time.

What is really funny is that the doctor told me that I am at a greater risk of rupturing it again, than someone who has never ruptured one. If that makes sense. But the physical therapist said that the doctor was smoking something. He said that I have a greater chance of rupturing the other leg, than I do of rupturing the one that I already did.
Either way breaking people down and passing off to a big man are a thing of the past for me.

    That spunds painful.

Oh you don't know how painful it was. I wanted nothing more on the way to ER than to pass the hell out. But whenever you get an injury or something they want you to remain alert.
Then when I get to the hospital, there is this test to tell if the tendon is ruptured. You lay flat on you stomach and they squeeze your calf. Normally this will cause the foot to jump or move involuntarily. If the tendon is ruptured the foot does not move. But the squeezing hurts like hell. The person in the ER did it, then called the doctor in, who did it twice. Then ran and got a few interns. He asked if he could do it again to show them.
After that I went to the casting room, where they had to position my foot for the first full leg cast. Once the first cast was on, the only pain I felt was when I had to come back to get the casts changed once ever 2 weeks. Each time they had to reposition my foot.
Once I got the last cast off, learning to walk again was pretty painful. I pass out once at rehab. The Biatch had me standing on my bad leg, throwing a weighted ball at a small trampoline. Once I got done with that she had me running little hurtles. From there she made me balance on some round ball with a wooden circular board around it. I went in the bathroom and passed the F out. Woke up like 10mins later.

            Adarkin,

i thought they had to attach the tendon back to the heel?

How does a cast work if the tendon is snapped up you leg?

Did they position it down again through your skin?

            That sux BTW.

It was not completely ruptured. I guess that is why I had the option of no surgery. So they place me in a full leg cast with my toes pointed first. Most relaxed state for the tendon. After 2 week they changed it to a partial cast with my foot just about flat. After that is was a mid calf cast with toes pulled back slightly. Last cast was tendon fully entended.
I meet a guy sometime later that had the same injury, but they did not give him an option. I assume that he had a complete rupture, and had to have surgery to reconeect the tendon.
