Good point. I don't see why an auto-alleyoop feature can't be an option to turn on or off.

Some of yall dont get it

We should be discussing EA making an NBA sim basketball game

      Not what 2k is not

and not what kind of generic movements should be there

Anything less than Live 10s playcalling is a step backwards IMO

I'm not liking all this talk of CPU assisted pass nonsense.. who said anything about wanting assistance with passing?

EA listens to the community, but they rarely make good decision based on what the community asks for

I'm starting to wonder if they are imitating something already implemented by another sports title with all the "assistance". It all sounds too familiar to have A.I. controlled teammates pass, shoot and attempt steals by themselves, without the user actually calling for them to do it...
Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.

cosign X 1000, thats just a bad idea period. Users should control when to throw alley oop not the cpu.

Re: NBA Live Moves with a Purpose to Make You a Better Baller

Still comparing to 2k, huh? Funny thing is that the best Live game this generation needed Mike Wang from 2k to make it happen. Maybe they should of loved the Wang a little more and we would have confidence in this.

Seriously, I'm done reading articles -- I need some gameplay trailers. At this point, they should only be tweaking -- no way they should be on a "regular" development schedule after a year off.

Edit: This comment was meant for something different but I'll leave it. This article seems to elude to the ongoing perfection of 'off ball motion' that we saw in NCAA '10.

What hype? I see more negs about the info that's been given...personally I'm going to wait till they show some vids to judge. I'm not even going to read anything the devs/EA writes so I'm just going off on vids and the few people here that I can trust with there judgement about the game.

I know one thing that Live seems to excel at will be the audio part of the game BUT I'm not so sure about this part anymore since it's TIBURON at the helm. The sounds in there football games are really lacking....very very low and I hate pumping up the speakers just so I can hear the crowd react.

Correct me if I'm wrong or out of line here, but why does EA need so many gimmicks to sell games? Why can't they just make an entertaining game of basketball? If they want to compare themselves to 2K fine, then take everything they did, do it better and add more to it, add everything you can fit or think of into the game, its really not that hard to please us sports fans. We want features not gimmicks, I mean we ask for more jerseys and courts/fields, shoes and more customization but instead we get mottoes and themes and gimmicks.

Having this in be a pro mode or when you want to just play a game controlling only one player would be ok in that regard. But i hope that this would not be a forced option for the regular 5 vs 5 games.

Maybe I was reading a different article or something but we still don't really know much about the game. Sounded like the man just said he wants the AI players to do what they are supposed to do. I don't see anything wrong with that and it's a step in the right direction in my opinion. They would be fools to not look at what makes 2K so good. It would be a good thing if they get this part of the game right. I agree that calling plays is good but teams don't call plays every trip down the floor and players still do fundamental "basketball" things like pick n' rolls, give n' go's and the like.

That's the way it should be. I just hope they pay the same attention to the defensive side of the ball. Players need to do fundamental intelligent stuff on that side as well.
These are my opinions based off of my perspective. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but if you disagree, we can still agree to disagree agreeably and not fight about it.

What I get from this article is that they have put emphasis in improving the off-ball AI and that there's assisted passing in the game. From the first thing I can't say much because if they want to improve it it's ok to me; on the other side I don't like the idea of auto passing, why would they take control from the user? I hope it's something like FIFA that there's an option between auto or manual passing and maybe other options like auto free throws and auto/manual shooting (like 2K has based on player ratings).

Yeah, that's how I read it too. The key will obviously be in the implementation.(Yes, water is wet). Despite the use of synergy, and 82 games, and tendencies, no team has done a great job with A.I. off the ball movement. All attempts have been mediocre at best, Eventually somebody has to get it right, right? Maybe it will be Live 13, we'll see.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I think some of us listened to Czars radio program with Owen on there as well

..and again, off the ball movment was not Live's issue if you want to be real, there were a host of other things that needed fixing throughout the series period

Yes you need to know the competition, and after all of these years they really dont know? Really?
