I don't know if it's "comeback AI", but there DEFINITELY is something that runs across all EA games that inexplicably allow games to be close. It usually happens in the computer's favor; it doesn't happen as frequently for the human player, but it happens. And yeah, it's that AI that ruined playing Madden for me too.

And I agree wholeheartedly about the 24-second last shot percentage by the computer - contested or no, it's going to hit the shot. Have had games consistently where I mount a furious comeback late in the game; the computer went to running the clock and busts a contested three-point shot in my face right as the clock is running out. Happens CONSISTENTLY.

Sure, runs happen in the NBA - but in Live, they occur in a way that makes the game seem like it's just following a script. Just like Madden, unfortunately. Still, it's a good game.

I'll concede "comeback AI" for "following a script". Either way, it sounds like we're of like mind on this one...and I'm glad I wasnt the only one that had to walk away from Madden due to this obnoxious "feature"

There is no catchup A.I. There is no script. Have you ever come back in an EA game? I know I have. Do teams ever come back in real life? Yep they do. EA has nothing to gain by people consistently losing because of this comeback AI garbage.

Look, this is sports. It happens more than you think. Just imagine if you had the real life Cubs franchise in MVP. After your 3-2 lead with Wood and Prior on deck for you, up 3-0 with 5 outs left and you lose the series..

Making a run is completely different then the computer cheating so that the win. I don't know why people keep using this excuse for ea's games.

Your analogy doesnt wash, because you are pinning this Live occurrence with something that rationally and logically MIGHT happen in the world of sports.

For example, the Marlins pulling off the upset series win could be categorized as similar to the Hornets storming back at the start of the 3rd quarter, cutting my lead from 20 to only 1...this is a legitimate "run", in the sense of hoops and the NBA, something that "happens"...

But when I go back up by 9 to close the 3rd quarter, and they come out in the 4th and decide to drain EIGHT OF ELEVEN! three's (all while being closely guarded or even doubleteamed, i might add), it isnt rational and it isnt realistic. Dont tell me "It happens in sports...", because it _DOESNT_! Maybe once every 25 years...MAYBE!

It's just not realistic, no matter how you want to spin it. To label it "the facts of life in sport" is just burying your head in the sand...

Well for me I can say that I've has some games where the computer would hit clutch shots late in the 4th Quarter and I've had some games where the computer shot enough bricks to build a house. And it all was due to the defensive pressure I was putting on the computer. I remember one game where I played the Boston Celtics in there own arena and Paul Pierce straight stunk it up. But once again it was due to my constant double teaming him forcing him to pass the ball and make his teammates step up. He ended the game with 7 points and shot horrible from the 3pt line. All this is on the all-star level.

I think its a matter of the defense you play and the pressure you put on the computer. All in All Live 2004 has been a great basketball game for me, I have no complaints

Me either, I love the game...I am driving my wife crazy, playing it all the time.

And to wrap up this sordid story...I just whupped on the Hornets in a grudge-match game, this time making the 20 point lead stick. We were neck and neck after 1 quarter, but then I ran away with it and never looked back.

Davis had a great game in the loss...still scored 35 or so, and was draining 3's late...so the main difference was probably that Mashburn wasnt dropping in 3's from all over the floor, like last night.

                              Like I said...great game!
