Sounds interesting, depending on the actual gameplay when I see it/play it I might actually buy Live as well this year.

To me the general EA hype machine starts working... We'll see how far the animation will support...

Seems like it's similar to the Infinity engine in Madden.

The example they provided was bad because we can already pass out of our shots so....

Well if it leads to better looking animations then it can go wrong in NBA Live's case. I guess this is what they were holding back, but i need to see it in action.

Re: NBA Live 13's new Playmaker engine detailed

I think Playmaker engine is based from elite (polished physics engine) then plus better AI.

According to example in this article, I think the two man animation was totally gone!!

                just like elite 11

So, I think when you're in the pain or in a contact situation, you press the bottom for layup or shot. you never stuck in two man or three man animation, you can pass out.

besides, I think the other feature of playmaker engine is the AI improvement.
AI will adapt as the game progresses and perform according to Synergy data!!

                But,It's just my imagination!!

hope it doesnt look like robot war on youtube. Info on mechanics is great but EA will get ripped once again if the game doesnt look fluid and players look natural

I guess we're just suppose to trust that this Playmaker engine is infinitely times better than the real time physics they were hyping up a couple years ago, because I can pull articles that were written about Elite that sound exactly like this one.

The use of Synergy can be huge and the part about the AI adapting to how you play during a season sounds good. Depending on how they code the game the Synergy data should have everything you need to get tendencies right spacing Fg% etc. The part about changing any animation sounds good as long as it looks realistic.

They have been trying to pump Synergy since Live 09.

Don't you guys remember the hot/cold zones on the court.

Yeah you right about the Synergy it basically comes down to how well you can take the data from Synergy and translate to actual good realistic basketball. All the data in the world means nothing if the developers can't make it play like basketball and look like basketball.

                            Exactly.

I actually think the Synergy works.

But surrounded by poor animations...it becomes irrelevant if the game is unplayable.
