I'm a fan of basketball. I stayed up the night to DL Elite on my PS3 (Hell Still Have It), no can believe the was a good game. But two years after that and you still not show us anything. SMH, it's a videogame, not a cure for cancer.

My bad. I was wrong about the hookshot glitch. It was even WORSE than I remember it. All you had to do was aim at the basket, the timing was automatic for it. SMDH.

You know what's even sadder? We figured this out during the community event and asked to go over the shot timings. Another one that comes to mind was the success window for bank shots, I believe.

We were told "don't worry, it will be fixed before the release." This is something that is common but my concern were all the different shot types might cause one to fall through the cracks.

some people don't want live 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 ( to some extent) or nba elite 11 ..

we want a Live game that represents REAL basketball the best it can

How can you expect a game to completely change for the sake of the other game? Live has always been a mix of sim/arcade style gameplay while 2k is methodical sim. Why not focus on making 2k even better and interacting with those devs instead of trying to change something that has been consistent in the style of game it offers. There is room for both in this market and even a 3rd with NBA Jam.

As a guy that's played video basketball since the 80's, this really saddens me.

The decision to move away from all the progress that was NBA Live 10 has to go down as one of the worst business moves EA has made.

There are users on this site that don't hold back in their criticism of EA and the Live team. Yet they frequently visit this section of Operation Sports in search of new info.

Why is that?
Are they "2k fanboys" who want nothing more than Live to fail miserably?

Or are they perhaps basketball fans who want nothing more than Live to be a huge success, which would lead to to us having two great basketball games on the market that each year would have to work hard to outdo the other?

I believe I can speak for quite a few on here when I say we are sick and tired of two years of talking. We want to see the goods. Words are not good enough anymore.

I don't imagine it'll be cancelled all together, though it's obvious the devs have lost their enthusiasm at this point. The window where they could tout superiority over 2k (ie, "Live's passing will be totes better that 2K's!!!") has passed and now they're keeping potential customers in the dark. Sure, Live's release will be a feat in and of itself, but at the expense of the customer considering the product will be painfully mediocre. I understand those frustrated with 2K long for an alternative option, but supporting a product that doesn't meet the basic standards set by the sports gaming industry seems totally counter-intuitive to me.

I did some research because I wasn't sure how far along "Beta" actually was in a game development cycle. I found that if they are working hard on getting the game to Beta then they aren't that far off from a complete game.

One correction. Gold is a POINT. Not a period. What I mean is that it's the cross from BETA to publishing. What I'm saying is that the game needs to be ready to submit for approval to MS and Sony pretty soon.

Your correct on the gold part. In my opinion NBA Live 13 will have to be finished by September 17 at the latest so they have two weeks to submit and mass produce copies of the game. It gives them 40 days from now to complete the game. Unless the game is digital, it could get them probably another week of development time. These dates are my guesses and are not official dates or times.

Maybe the reason why EA has nothing is that they could be working VERY hard on this comeback. I know I don't want any distraction to happen why I work hard. Maybe EA is playing tortoise, while EA thinks 2K is playing hare with them hyping everything. I hope EA does good with Live 13 cuz I want good competition back in video games. I want to make a hard decision on to buy 2K or Live. (unless Live is digital, expected price: 1600 MSP or $20)
