How long does it take for a game to reach beta ?

Depends on getting the "major" kinks out in beta testing. minor stuff is usually patched, if not taken care of afterwards. I know my time doing beta on Live 07 was dreadful man... It was the main reason I emailed EA Canada CEO, and 3 Live devs about that game. 23 and Pared are the only ones I showed that email too iirc, and EA's response. I should see if I still have those emails..
Also don't take what i say personally... Theres nothing wrong with having hope man, fight the good fight Ced, but you can't just disregard whats happened before(elite) and whats happening now(silence).
Just doesnt look good for this game at the moment.... compared to how they used to release info etc..

It doesn't matter how long it takes.

The fact is, at 6 or so weeks until go time, they should definitely be at beta already. No software, game or otherwise, should still be "getting to beta" this close to retail release. It stinks to high heaven of poor planning.

But you know what, this whole Elite 11/Live 13 fiasco is sweet justice. It proves EA cannot beat anyone unless they are the only one. EA could only get rid of 2K football by getting an exclusive deal with the NFL. NBA said nope, you two battle it out. Result? A game that was cancelled two years ago, and one game that we've seen so little of, most topics about it are about if it's even going to release at all.

I'll leave my anti-EA rant at that, because, truthfully, I'm most upset because I WANT competition. I want NBA Live 13 to release and I want it to be great. Being forced to choose between two great basketball games to play is a problem I WANT to have. Unfortunately, as the Oct 2nd date gets closer, with not so much as a peep out of EA, it seems they don't want me to have that problem.

A normal team is their NHL series.... They give a firm date of announcements (Tomorrow at ___, we'll announce something), they listen to the community (They did a great job of it this year), and they, you know, actually announce stuff.

I legitimately wonder if the crew on Live thinks they did a good job or not.

I've played both games, just want a good basketball game, and I gotta say, this isn't looking good.

Officially? Right after they saw the first month sales of NBA 2K11. So basically November 2nd. Guess they were waiting for 2K to get their sales out of the way before releasing the game. Waiting for the other guys to go first didn't work out so well then either.

EA Sports might be waiting on the NBA 2K news to die down who knows.

Taking one look at FIFA 13's trailer you can just tell they know how to make incredible games. That may be the best animating sports game on the market.

Just goes to show you where basketball lands on EA's priority list.

They have the resources to make this an astounding game IMO. They just have piss poor decision makers over there.

I would never have thought that a game as popular as basketball would get the stepchild treatment.

Even this years Madden (based on the demo) is greatly improved...so its not like EA forgot how to make a decent/playable game. I guess they have no clue what direction they want to take Live, mostly due to no foundation. Its almost like they want it to go in 500 different directions all with potential but terrible together.

I just want to see something since I grew up playing the hell out of Live.

You 2K guys are sooooo lucky. EA won't "steal" anything to make it's football games better. 2K5 had so ideas worth implementing but EA won't use them. It's pretty laughable.

Honestly, as a Live player since Lakers vs Celtics. I've been around the block with this series since the beginning. I only see two paths for Live 12.

1) If released with zero vids/info etc = NBA Live 2007

or

2) Plug gets pulled just weeks/days before release = NBA Elite 11


Unless a lot of info (i mean tons) starts being released ASAP, I see no other path for this game. I don't care what some guys twitter comment says or Facebook page says or hear say from people with "in's" at EA sports.....I've been down this path before with this very same song a dance....I know how it will end.
