Pretty bad example, 2k did this for years and their game was way better than Live

And for just 20$ I wouldnt mind buying the game as long as EA fixed the issues we saw in the leaked footage then I'll buy it.
I just came here to laugh at the desperate live fans lol I mean really a 20 digital download? Why not just include the game with an issue of game informer? Its really pathetic you guys are the loving boyfriends and ea is the lying cheating promiscuios gf that constantly burns you, let you just can't let her go. You will learn the hard way

i always had fun going threw a live season. like a said before 2k11 is the best basketball game on this console i love it but. just because it is better does not mean it is fun. if that makes sense for you. if it don't o well it makes sense to me
Just because something is better does'nt make it fun...hmmm..so you mean like..2 girls are better than 1 but just because 2 is better does'nt make it fun? Huh? I don't understand your logic sir

Some of the people here are ridiculous with their blind faith in EA. The game will be complete garbage. EA is basically admitting that by making it a $20 digital release. And no, that's not the same thing as NFL 2K5. 2K5 is arguably the greatest sports game of all time. The reason they're making it a $20 digital release is because they can't compete. Hell, one guy in this thread actually said he'd buy Live 13 no matter what. How stupid is that? I almost blame the consumers more than anybody for EA's mediocrity throughout this gen. They're spoon feeding people crap and they continue to buy it for some reason.

What I'm seeing here is that fans are accepting what ever EA is putting out like some Cult and protecting them like they are brainwashed. If fans accept this game and the game sells huge numbers EA will keep putting out the same or similar game over and over. The way people are going on in here EA is cheating itself by selling it for $20.

It's actually sad in a bad economy people would accept mediocre for any amount. I like competition and a choice too, but I refuse to buy a cheap car with four flats when I can buy a high performance car.

I like many here foresee no competition from NBA Live. Live 13 will be a disfunctional product released merely to generate some profit. EA will only take their bottom line into account when developing video games, yet thats just my opinion.

The fact that the thing you brought up to criticize 2K for is the online is actually pretty telling of their game. They make some pretty quality basketball games when the first beef someone has with it is the online servers.

The scariest part about Live being disowned by it's own company is that EA, with all it's billions of dollars, can't hire talented human beings to bring great ideas to the table. How hard is it to study 2K, and everything 2K does great, and build on that to create a competitor?

                    Anyone with me?

I agree, and to their credit, they tried to work on areas that 2k had issues in (passing, online, and something else but I forget what exactly they said). Realistically, the only thing Live potentially has over 2k is Online due to EAs servers.

Really Live 10 had the foundation to do just what you said, but the big wigs didnt like the overall numbers and decided there needed to be a drastic change (Elite....)

I still cannot see how they can charge $20 for a glorified demo, even if it is for consumer feedback (Isnt that what the Gamechangers program is for?). Even if someone prefers Live's controls, I just dont see how it can make much of a difference if the core game plays nothing like the sport it is trying to replicate.

Live 13 being a digital release only at this time is just speculation until official EA annoucement. They are still working on the game as we speak and their minds can easily change and release in stores at any time.
Maybe, but its seriously doubtful. The writing on the wall about this being a downloadable game has been there all summer. Plus, we are one month away from the supposed release date. They dont really have much flex room anymore for deciding on whether this is going to stores or going to be digital only.

I'm reading way too many posts saying that EA can make a profit by selling LIVE for $20.
You can't make profit if your sales numbers don't surpass your development and production costs.
You can't make profit with this title when you haven't released a NBA LIVE/ELITE product since the Fall of 2009.
You can't make profit when money has been trickling away due to firings, hiring, reshuffling of development teams, and paying for licensing when a product was not released.
This release would have to surpass industry record numbers for them to make profit. Halo, COD, GTA numbers, come on people.
The price point is not a way to make money. It's a means of salvaging an underwhelming product.

So instead of spend 60$ i could spend and hour's worth of a paycheck and get live with updated rosters, online, a franchise mode, acceptable presentation, great crowd atmosphere and a since its not polished enough to be a full sim arcade mixed in with sim for and enjoyable experience

its a game the point is to have fun so if you can have fun for a lower cost than its even better.
So then keep playing Live 10. Go rebuy Live 10. Everything you mentioned having, you can get in Live 10. If it's about value, which I doubt, then Live 10 will cost you $9.99 for the PS3 and $14.99 on the 360 at Gamestop right now. Instead you're in here talking up Live 13 as this great value for 20 bucks for stuff you don't even know you're going to get? NCAA 10 was a full fledged, advertised disc release that didn't get any support for anything and we're in here talking about how this digital download IS going to be all this stuff. I'd wait for the reviews on this one.

and then i go back to the fact that to me they were trying to compete with 2k this because they only had 8 months to work on the game. so they build of the positives they have this year. atmosphere, presentation and go forward and we will see what happens next year but until then . i see no problem with buy a roster update with good aspects for 20$.
Why do you keep saying they ONLY had so much time to work on this title. They had a FULL DEVELOPMENT CYCLE. They may not have used the full two years after Elite that they could have and should have used, but they definitely had a full, normal development cycle. At the least they had nine months and not eight.

They CAN hire the talent, we saw that with Mike Wang and Marcus. The problem is the guys up top don't give two drops of piss about a quality, true representation of basketball as opposed to the correct numbers. See Live 10 and the decision to change direction and piss off the best guy in the basketball gaming biz
