This is one of the biggest issues I have with the whole Live fiasco. Even if Elite was garbage, build off of and improve that engine since they had ambitious goals. 3 years should be more than enough time to make a playable and decent basketball game...I mean if EAs intentions were to start fresh, MAKE IT WORK!

this would explain the lack of advertising. it seems a $20 downloadable release isn't capable of recouping the ad budget of previous titles; cuts were made to compensate, hence the perceived secrecy. my guess is, they can't pay as much for cover athletes either, which would explain the hold up there.

i was hoping i'd have a choice this year, looks like EA made up my mind for me...2K FTW!

Haha EA is a joke. They want the gamers to be their testers. Only stupids will buy Live13 instead of 2K13

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt this EXACTLY what the Game Changers program was created for? Consumer feedback meant to make these games better?

wrong. thats not how you should look at it. you should say. its 2012. you should not have these kind of server issues. period. thats why i brought it up. its amazing that they have those problems in this day an age.

its like catching someone walking around with a Discman vs an ipod, or mp3 player, or cell phone playing music. its like we off that. we've been off that. time to get with the times 2k. get your servers together.

not stupids, people who care about live being good in the next installment. people caring if 2k has competition to keep them on their toes.

                Anyone with me?
not hard at all. remember they did bring in mike wang. the problem is some game companies are stupid. and they just want to be "DIFFERENT". back in the day you would have 4 different hoop games. 3 legit ones. and they would all have different controller schemes. the jumpshot would be the X button on one, the jumpshot button would be the Y on another game. and that same shot on the last game would be the right analog pushed down.

why would you do that knowing good and well millions play or have played the old nba live games. therefore have an idea of what controller scheme works best. dont try to be so different that you are alienating your customers.

i think live is trying to be different. which is why they dont take enough of 2k's good and bad and capitalize on that.

Saying your stupid if you buy this over 2k is wrong. a game is for enjoyment and who are you to decide for someone else. if your not going to buy it thats fine but the point is its a new sports title that will 40 dollars cheaper so its is more available to a lot more people and should sell pretty well. but by you stating your hate and bashing is doing nothing but showing your immaturity and lack of knowledge.

And for the last time they did not have "3 YEARS THO" they had 8 months not because of being lazy but because they had to put together a team and decide where to go for the future

this was never going to be a year to compete this was a option from the start but they "hoped to be able to advance the game far enough to make a full AAA disc title but they could not.

You people act like you know so much on how things are but actually don't want to understand and show unbelievable ability to be biased

and last but not least i own the best basketball game of all time NBA 2k11

I had a feeling someone might bring up what year we're in. I did keep that in mind when I wrote what I did. My point though, as important as online is to people, that's not the most important thing for a game to function or be great, in my opinion. Peoples' criticisms of 2K continue to diminish to the point where the online is the only really bothersome aspect of the game. I understand that the servers should be better but I personally find that online being the big issue is indicative of a quality experience, despite the year we're in and what's acceptable now. There's a parallel here with the NBA Live series. What EA has put out is not acceptable by 2012 standards. Like you said, we've been off that. This isn't 2005 anymore and the game should reflect that.

I find it ironic that the people begging to giving Live a pass for a gameplay rewrite that's at least 3 years old, are the same ones crying foul on 2k's online issues after they JUST rewrote the online code 1 year ago...

There goes that beautiful double standard!

Quit saying they had 8 months man. How you going to get on here talking about people acting like they know so much and then saying something this wrong? If they only had 8 months to work on this game, then that would mean they started on it in January. A typical development cycle for the NBA game starts in October right after or just prior to release of the current game. Even if you buy EA's talk about putting a team together in November, that's 10 months ago. That's not even touching the fact that Peter Moore (yeah, EA COO Peter Moore) said they had a talented team that already had the game up and running in August of LAST YEAR. Whatever though. Guess I'm not being truthful about things (that happened to be facts) and just being biased here.

It would sell much better if it were released on a disk. Its one thing to have parents see it at a gamestop, best buy, target, etc and see the $20 price tag, its another to look for it online, purchase it, and then download it (There arent as many people connected as you would think).

Even at the lower price point, the fact that it is online doesnt help it in sales. Sure it will get some purchases but most gamers will pass it over, especially if there is no demo.
