I am not even a little surprised. When they announced it was "delayed" my mind already said cancelled. Their next best move would be to just forget it! Don't even work on an NBA title because they are done imo.

Re: NBA Live 13 Has Been Canned
I know about their 15-yr deal. I was referring to contract clauses, details that nobody can know about except the guys who have to deal with this stuff. Those contracts can always contain opting-out clauses that become law in various situations. We don't know anything about that...#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA Live 13 Has Been Canned
I'm reading that in this thread and wondering that too. Are people forgetting that eas produced this game along with the engine? LOL.
I have never even heard of them using another company's engine to produce a game#dairyfreeComment

I wonder how much money EA had to pay ESPN and the NBA for failing to put a product out? I know that when the NBA makes a deal with EA/2K they have a clause about HAVING to make a certain release date or face a fine. I bet missing the entire year is in there too. I wonder if ESPN has anything similar in their contract with EA.Comment

I sincerely doubt they EAS would not fight them going to a competitor. ESPN isn't only on live, I'm pretty sure its carried on other lackluster titles that eas has to offer as well. If they were to try to break the clause, I'm pretty sure eas would try to break it off with fifa. And Fifa is too much of a cash cow.Comment

Re: NBA Live 13 Has Been Canned
Thats a horrible analogy. Tiburon and Canada are different studios but under the same umbrella. Its ridiculous to think that EA wouldnt leave a few employees who were knowledgable about the Live 10 engine to help guide the new team. The fact is EA wanted to move from the Live 10 engine and only use the elite engine. Just like the Live 13 team had to try to use the Elite engine, they couldve used that time to learn the Live 10 engine and built from there.
It was an indefensible decision by EA to use Elite as the foundation for 13 and the main reason why this game wasnt released.
They had no choice but to move forward. Either you move forward or get left behind. Unfortunately in this case they werent able to MOVE at "tall"(english accent)....
EA used a successful NHL development team to push the their NBA franchise, would you call that smart or ridiculous?................

Re: NBA Live 13 Has Been Canned
Not saying that, just saying super unlikely. Take a little loss such as nba live(expected annual sales anywhere between 1-3mil) compared to the giant fifa..I think they'll take that..not kindly, but its something they'll live with.
Someone needs to be fired though. I don't like people losing their jobs but someone needs to be fiered, and they need to bring in a fresh breathe of sim air lol. Someone who knows what they are doing. I think they bbrought in the nhl guy for elite 11 lol..not smart.
Maybe some young college kid who's been working for them and is ready for the next thing idk. just something#dairyfreeComment

People laughing about this? To me, it is a sad day for sports gamers.
We've now been reduced to ONE NBA game and ZERO College Basketball games. Several years ago we had three NBA games and two NCAA games.
Add in no competition in football and baseball games (hell, 360 users won't even have a baseball game next year) and we are in trouble as sports gamers.
It's all about quality...people don't laugh at things worth caring about..Comment
