After playing the game for over a month now. . .

what are people's impressions? i've been holding out until xmas for some new games and i'm leaning towards asking for nba live, but i wanted to hear what people had to say having owned the game for over a month. thanks for the advice.

p.s. any comparisons to espn after playing both for this long would be helpful as well. thanks!

I absolutely love the game when the AI is in a neutral frame of mind. It can be amazing. However, I've played with sliders until I don't care anymore, if the AI wants the other team to win, it's going to freaking blow you away, (or I should say me away, I guess others have it figured out). I play 6 minute quarters and using the Pistons sometimes get beat by 30 points. (That would be 60 points with 12 minute quarters) That doesn't happen much in real life. That is usually against a real running team, because EA for some reason or other figured we would enjoy watching non-stop fast breaks where our closest defender is 50 feet from there guy standing under the basket over and over and over again. When the AI wants the Pistons to win everything goes in and absolutely nothing for the other team, and I blow them away by 20 or so. These type of games are boring as hell. These two version are probably 25% of the time. The other 75% of the time I just love it. I just get the feeling that the stupid bastards that spend zillions to make the graphics pretty never have anyone that actually enjoys video games try them out for awhile to say something to the effect of "Hey, would you fix this freaking incredibly obvious flaw".

Having vented that, believe it or not, I would still recommend getting it.

the game is awesome. I play on Superstar, basically default sliders, 9 minute quarters. It is GREAT! Very realistic gameplay all around, I don't notice any of this so called AI cheating.

I had put it down for a quick minute to play March Madness. I just came back to Live about three days ago and can't believe I hadn't been playing it for so long. It's obvious that MM and Live, while similar, are two different games.

Anyway, on to Live. I play 12 minute quarters and get realistic stats. I get scores of 99-95, 89-76, and 115-110. (Things work for me).

I still don't see this AI Comeback cheat. Yea, the AI does hit some jump shots that seem unrealistic and it does get frustrating, but I usually find that good defense shuts them down more times than not. I've won games by 20 or more points. When the opposing team cuts it to about 14 or so points, I go back on my own run to make it a 20 point lead again. So, I really don't know about this AI Cheat.

I think the game is absolutely great. Best basketball game I played.
