OMFG I need help(quick) with NBA Live 2k4 for PC

Hello...(I am so excited) for the past 2 years I have heard many of you talk of "patches" for nba live and I never new what you meant. I just looked at this one web site where you can download the patches and I am exstatic. They have excellent faces for people and updated kicks and the like. I recieved a gift card for Best Buy and right now I want to go buy Live for the pc so bad. I was wondering if I can pkay this game on a lap top ( excuse me..I am a real dumb *** w/ computers) it is a fairly new lap top it is a hp pavilion5400, will it be able to play the game correctly along with patches? i know they have controllers to get for pc games, which one is the best one to get? and if it is possible can someone explain a simple way on how the downloads for patches work? Thank you in advance...I am so excited I just want to know if this all will work on a laptop? Thanks

i currently play mine on a athlon 1800+ XP Compaq notebook (laptop) it runs great! get the logic tech dual game pad (same as the ps2 controller)...

thanks a bunch man, i just bought the game at best buy and recieved ten dollars off that same controller and got it for 9 bucks so i only payed $9 for a game and controller..now to start downloading patches...how do I implement them in the game though?

alot of times the patches will install the patches to the direct place and then inform you where to activate them...
