An idea to actually get our wishes added to next years games...

We all come on here because we love basketball videogames. MOst of us are hardcore sim fans, but all of us wish for the perfect game. Unfortunately, there is no perfect game, and no matter how much we ask, or how hard we try to get the producers of these videogames to hear our pleas, they usually fall upon deaf ears.

I know, we get a lot of face time here at OS, but our efforts are too diluted, as we have wishlists that are so long and diverse, that hardly any of it really could be implemented. I suggest that we all use the regular chat boards to discuss what we really want in the game and keep the wishlists short and simple. One thing to keep in mind is that these wishlist are only good until about February. After that, the developers are hard pressed to add anything else to their agendas.

ESPN NBA's cutoff date for it's official forum is January 31. I have a Playerlock wish with a poll.
Unfortunately no one seems to care, so I doubt it will be added to the game. Which brings me to my next thought.

Why don't we create a few Main wishes, and have the users her bombard their board with replies to the wishlist post. For example:

My wishlist Thread and poll is:

Play ESPN fantasy games. Create or join a fantasy league. Use the ESPN Draft kit, read fantasy blogs, watch video, or listen to ESPN fantasy podcasts.

Under this idea, we would each go the site, vote for the poll, and add a comment like:

"Yeah, that would be cool!" or "Whooo-weee, that would rock."

Using this method we could be sure that some of our most important pleas got to be seen by the higher ups as valid additions.

Currently, I know that ESPN has board that this can work for. The NBA live unofficial site works as well, and I am checking on a NBA inside drive board as we speak. So, let's get the ideas cracking, and figure out what the top 10 things we want fixed are for each game.

Oh yeh, and feel free to post on my wish and poll at the link above. I would appreciate it...

Or if wishes could be somehow prioritized like most video game companies do in their development and QA departments, then youd probably see more successful results. As a programmer myself, I know I could get a lot more done if I was handed a wish/bug list that was prioritized rather than just a bunch of random suggestions. One of the main problems with this, though, is that most people don't really know what is more important to put in to make a more successful NBA simulation because many people disagree.

Actually, its all abt logic. Developers should know which ideas are logical and which aren't. Players sticking when they are in double team animation isn't logical. Players putting up the same very awkward shot when pressured isn't logical. Players that keep on doing jump passes and bullet passes, isn't logical. Having the same few animations, or animations that aren't contextualized isn't logical. I can go on and on...

i doubt ea reads this board... they never seem to listen to wishes or bug fixes unlike sega.... thats what seperates the 2 games..... sega sliped this year but i think they'll be back next year because they actually listen to the people who buy their games

Yeah you're right about that Jumpoff. The only bball developers I know that come to this forum are VC, HV, and Kush. In fact last year after the first College Hoops was released a rep from Kush came to the forum and asked us what we liked about the game, and what they needed to fix. For the most part they fixed everything we asked them to in this years version.

But as for EA, I have never known or heard of them posting here, or checking the forums here for suggestions and wishlists. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I do know that Steve and the others here do submit a wishlist to EA every year. But if you want to be heard by EA, then the NLSC [ http://www.sportplanet.com/nbalive/ ]is most likely your best source. Or Ben's site at [ www.nbalive.org ]
