    Re: E3 2013: NBA Live 14 Hands-On

On the article, it sounds to me like the BounceTek is going to bring tangibility to the ball. On 2k, due to animation, as a defender/shot blocker, you aren't able to touch the ball. Like they said in the presentation, in every previous basketball game, the ball has been attached, through animation, to the players' hand. BounceTek sounds like it'll bring a new element to defense, forcing you to pick your spots as a ball handler going against a lockdown defender and driving the lane against shot blockers.

      August 2009:
As promised, we're back today showing all of you the new dribble moves that you'll see in NBA LIVE 10 this year. We really wanted to differentiate between players this year. What makes LeBron, LeBron? How about CP3? One of the ways in which we've captured this is in their dribbling styles. Let's start with the new "size up" mechanic in NBA LIVE 10.

The size up is a series of dribbling moves used to breakdown a defender. How am I being guarded? Where is the opening? Answering these questions is the purpose of the size up. Once the ball handler catches the defender biting, he can then perform a go move out of the size up to take advantage of an over-zealous defender or a mismatch. Basically, the size up keeps the defender on his toes! In NBA LIVE 10, you perform these moves via the right trigger from a standstill position. Once you move the left stick (to move the character), you break out of the size up and start moving. One of the great things about this mechanic is that it can be broken out of at any time, or better yet, seamlessly linked into any quickstrike dribbling move using the right stick. There's no waiting for the animation to play out before going into your next move. If you want to start that next move, you can. In the video below, you can see that we've captured authentic player specific size ups. You can really see the difference between LeBron and Kobe's size up moves.
Bouncetek/Sizeups/Freestyle/Catchy nicknames but this is a "new" feature

So what can this game do that NBA2K doesn't? I don't ask that rhetorically either. I seriously want to know what it's going to bring.

Honestly, EA would be better suited doing a GOOD college hoops game since their is not one on the market...

Shots fired!! Synergy beats 2k insider already. looking forward to hearing more.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

No they don't, I like competition and having a choice. EA and 2k need to push each other, we don't need another monopoly on a sport, lol we need a few more company's in the ring too... like the old days.

I still hope you can shoot with a face button. I hate shot sticks. Nice to see this may be headed in the right direction.

I think you guy have the bounce tec stuff all wrong. There is no control to manually keep the ball bouncing so therefore its still tied to the hand. All this is just a spin on 2K13 dribbling. Don't let EA hype y'all with the word SIG. Just like 2K13 these are moves cut to fit a push of the stick in a given direction.

With all respect u do go out of your way to discredit EA in every post. They are trying to get back to their glory days which will take a while
