A mediocre 7.5 game outselling one if the best games in sports gaming for years after a 3 year developmental catastrophe?

      Ridiculous.

I don't know what alternate reality Live fanboys live in. They don't appear to be satisfied with "Live might be kind of good and might kind of do okay." which is really its best case scenario right now.

EA's past is completely relevant. Clean slates don't erase that, especially since they've given themselves 2 clean slates already.

People will let it go when the new team actually proves themselves, not before.

Honestly thought EA would drop another video today, but probably won't for some time. With that said, you guys gotta chill. Were talking games here, plus expectations from past results. The ignite engine is untested for games right? And what's the point of mentioning live vs. Sakes of current gen, and PC sales? Be real ppl. Live is going up against themselves, they've already acknowledged 2k consistency, and footprint, but for anyone to say 2k is perfect would be very delusional.

2k and EA have to show and prove with this new platform, don't just think they're going to place the CURRENT DISK into the PS4 and PRESTO an upgrade. No. So fall back youngin.

The weekend is here and I can't keep talking bout this topic. Lol. How can you all, they didn't release another vid, but niethee did 2k. It's all about cards now, I don't agree, and want to see more but hey it's time to move on.

        Peace.

I would agree if it was the same team who messed up Live in the first place but since its not you can't put what the other team did on them.

Doesn't matter, since same could be said of the teams that messed up. The new team might be on the right track. But they also had to start from scratch with a dev cycle that's less than 2 years which is an additional difficulty to overcome in such a complex game as basketball.

The monkey is off their back when they prove themselves. Not before.

Except that there are devs from Live 07 on the live 14 team.
1st month sales will dispel your "clean slate" theory, then youll be crying that its because of past games & reputation.

There's a famous quote out there goes something like; "those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it."

Live/EA's past is completely relevant. I know dudes are all gung ho about people 'not bringing up Live's past all the time' mostly because alot of you same dudes that want to get a clean slate now are the same ones out here that were selling that hope for the future/fixing what's wrong with basketball games/just want something different stuff with every Elite 11 newsbit that dropped during that hype train. The same ones that were finding ways to discredit Mike Wang when the news broke that he was out at EA and headed back to 2K. It's not hard to see who really is concerned about helping basketball games move forward.

For the record, Live has always had talented dudes on the team. There's always been guys that love the NBA and love hoops working there (granted they put a hockey guy in charge for Elite, point still stands though) the problem with Live has ALWAYS been from the top down where those guys' visions have been overruled by an accounting spreadsheet. So if you want to get butt hurt that people aren't falling over themselves over promises and talking go right head, but keep in mind the people that are being cautious about buying into the buzzwords and clever marketing tricks are aware that this isn't the first talented development team committed to making a good basketball game that Live has had. You tell me you have hope because it's a new team working on the game, tell me how new the decision making team in the biggest offices overseeing that new Live team are and then we'll talk about hope for the future. Until then, this is all a repeat showing.

I'm sure there's some decisions and mistakes you made that you would do over in an instant if you could...

I see a new generation of systems, with more power, more memory, and more room for creativity and innovation. I see a once beloved franchise who's had there behinds handed to them ready to start fresh. I see a game whose outcome doesn't have to be decided by who knows how to exploit the animations better than the other, but by the unpredictability of the sport.

I'm not going to be close minded and say, we've already saw what EA's done we know what we're going to get, I'll just keep an open mind and listen. I'll do my research, no video or screenshot is going to sell me, but I'll read, see, and try it for myself before I even dish out a penny.

Once again, Thomas Edison failed so many times before he got the light bulb right, I'm sure there were naysayers of his time too. "Wow, Thomas is such a bum, doesn't he see this light-bulb thing is just not for him, give it up, John Doe's got the best candles around give up", but I bet you're loving you some light right now.
Edison wasn't the first to create the lightbulb, though he did invent the first commercially practical incandescent light. In this one respect, Edison would be 2K because 2K pushes practical and marketable technology.

I'm also pretty sure Edison didn't hype his inventions before they were presentable. In this respect EA has been more like PT Barnum the last few years.

Also Edison actually stood against progress in important areas-- he devoted a smear campaign against Tesla and AC electricity, which we use in just about everything and not merely lightbulbs. Tesla's genius was on a other level t

Anyway, poor analogy, since Edison wasn't about hype and false promises year after year. We can keep an open mind about EA developing and pushing technology. It's another matter when they make grandiose promises and fail THEIR OWN hype year after year.

Anyway, it looks like EA might have enough for a playable game this year. Even of its bad as far as simulation basketball goes, it looks like they night have a decent framework to build on. And being the underdogs might actually cause them to be innovative instead of milking the franchise like Madden.

Also, it's somewhat self contradictory to simultaneously say we should give EA a clean slate and turn around and say we should acknowledge Live's legacy. You can't have it both ways.

And the last thing you want is people buying Live on its name. This will cause EA to sit back and rest on its laurels once again. You want to keep Live scratching and clawing rather than rest on undeserved reputation.

I never said he was the first to invent it. Only reason I mentioned Edison was because of his famous quote about failure.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

I've brought that quote up multiple times in this forum, so I added Edison in just for reference, reason why I said once again at the beginning. Overall my point was he's failed before, but he learned from it. There probably times where he wanted to give up, or even saw the competition and thought to; or maybe even his own colleagues discouraged him but the point was he had the potential to revolutionize lighting and he stuck with it.

Sorry I didn't Wikipedia his history, cite my sources, and then send you a bibliography, I was just trying to simplify things.

After seeing those images I don't like the player models or the faces..They look little to nothing like the renders....They barely looks 20% better than current gen....

Lillards arms and hands are puffy and just weird and those are the same skin textures from Live 09 and 10! All they did was smooth them out a tad.

Yeah I agree with Lillard's hands it looks like his wrist is super swollen. But you can actually see the perforations on the jerseys to help them breathe better. Also, the bottom picture of madison square garden looks good with the lighting. Just sucks we have to wait for the last 7 trailers, ALL of which don't come out till next month leading up to the game. So I guess they have sometime to make changes.
