Can someone explain this to me?

Why is Live coming out on the 19th? I know it's done and ready, just look at Need for Speed Rivals. I'll bet 90% of gamers get 2K14 when the PS4 drops simply because it's the only bball game out.
It just seems like a TERRIBLE move on EA Sports' part... Even if MS gave them money to launch with their system, I highly doubt that will be more than what they lose in sales on PS4 launch day.
It just baffles me.. Anyone know what's up or able to add to this?

EA has a partnership with Microsoft that is why the game is not being release on the 15th.

But why does that only affect Live and not Madden and Fifa?

No idea, when the question was asked about the games release on twitter, the date seamed to be a discussion between Microsoft and EA, you may have noticed that both games are being heavily promoted on one or the other console.

Wow. You're right. I didn't notice that. Makes me rethink the MS theory. And that's not good. Now you have me worried about the game? Why would you want to miss launch date if the game was ready? Oh man!

You'd think it'd be out sooner, like now Lol. There's no Logic behind this decision. Can't fool early adopters. Plus, Lebron is far more marketable than kyrie..So once both hit the shelves...I don't think a mom or dad is going to pick kyrie over lebron unless they are in Ohio. So it makes ya think.

If the media trashes this game in reviews, then it might as well be DOA. I don't think that will happen. I mean, I hope it doesn't.

They still haven't shown 5 on 5 gameplay (or I missed it). That's not a good sign at this point.

I think since Elite they have been trying to tell people "try it out yourself, then decide". But anyway, if the game is good - I don't see how 5on5 videos can do any harm. But I don't expect them to release a 5on5 video anymore at this point, since there is a demo coming. We'll see.

Seems to me that they really really want people to try it out and judge it only by that. A good sign? Maybe, but hard to tell.

Yeah I don't know. I think that at least means the game isn't great. It might not be terrible or bad but the fact they don't show it means it cannot be great. That's my opinion at least.

Might do OK if the demo is semi decent. A lot of people seem to be ready for an alternative at this time.

I don't understand the release date either. Maybe Microsoft is going to surprise people and give NBA Live as a free download for all Xbox One owners? I know in Europe they are giving out Fifa with every pre-order and maybe for North America its going to be NBA Live? It could help spread the game and if it is solid enough it could warrant a future purchase in Live 15. I see NBA Live losing money this year and if I was in EA shoes I would at least try to get this game out to as many people as possible that could spread good word of mouth. Or I could be horribly wrong about this and EA just has a deal with Microsoft to release closer to the launch of the Xbox One. Either way, the first NBA Live game in four years is less than 9 days away.

It's not an MS deal, that doesn't even make sense. It's just a bad game and EA doesn't want to promote it.

it all makes sense. they anticipate the reception to live would be bad...if this came out at launch, it would be compared to 2k which would lower the score. so they waited til reviewers got over the 2k hangover so they could review more objectively and give slightly better numbers...but i believe that backfired and reviewrs kept 2k in mind and next gen in mind..and the scores still suffered..

I was listening to pressrow and rich said they had a team that predicted metaritic scores but they have been gone for 3 or 4 months and he hasn't heard anything since. maybe they got a new team or maybe the metacritic staff fulfilled its purpose, told the the estimation of the score and there was no wavering for that..so live began taking measures to soften the blow..who knows but the release date makes sense now

To think it would've been better off for them to spend more effort making a GOOD basketball game than to resort to fancy tactics and trickeries in order to sell more of their product.
