Re: Sean O'Brien Issues Apology for NBA Live's Quality, Promises Improvements

Authentic gameplay? Nope. No physics, no player movement!, no physicality. This is not authentic nba basketball.

Control? Nope. Players are too slow, there is lag and sluggishness to it. Player skate.

Connected experience? Nope again. Online reported unplayable due to lag, stutter and drops.

Ea Sports knows better what's wrong with their basketball title and don't you dare think otherwise or point them to things which community regards as broken.

It's all talk and nothing has changed since 2006.

First of all, EA had the time to develop a good game, but not sure what all the obstacles were from EA's production end. Likely not O'Brien's fault; he could have been limited on certain things. That said, the graphics for LIVE 14 are what's holding it back. The gameplay, minus a few bugs, can be cleaned up. The menus, interface, and the overall game structure, are pretty good. And from what I have read, the gameplay is getting decent reviews (5-5). I say we give LIVE 14 another chance, and see what patches they can do moving forward (or if it will be an entire new upgrade in a month).
NBA 2K has its bugs, too.

When EA Spots abandoned NCAA Basketball 10, without a single patch and ignored a serious freezing issue, they in turn incurred a wrath unseen in gaming. Do bad things and bad things will happen. Since that fateful decision they have seen canceled games, Jesus Bynum and a next gen game with reviews so low even Trip Hawkins and they guys behind the Army Men games had a good laugh.

Apologize all you want Sean but it's far too late for that. You owe the consumer for your sins but EA only bows to the all-mighty stockholder. Forever doomed to repeat in failure until you own up to your treatment of the consumer.

I would add that since this game was developed by Tiburon, did you guys feel like you liveed up to the values that you maintain on your company's site?

EA SPORTS builds the world’s best sports games and connects people with the sports they love through their video game franchises.

Be Bold - If by bold you mean hiding the actual gameplay as much as possible, that would be bold. Limited sliders in the game, bold for the year 2013.
Think Customers First - Really? Was this an April Fools Joke? Someone should consider taking this one down.
Create Quality and Innovation - One day we can dream.
Act with Integrity - You did apologize and for EA that is just short of a miracle. Unfortunately...
Be Accountable - Apologies do not pay for the $59.99 purchase.
Learn and Grow - Time will tell.

Looking forward to how this plays out. NBA 2k14's Day 1 patch was 2GB's to download, if I remember correctly. Wondering what type of "patch" they can issue to make an unplayable game, playable.

If they make improvements with the upcoming patches then yes they can gain my trust.

Wait... What? Please show ONE review where gameplay scores that high. This is completely false. What are you trying to pull here?

And what does 2K have to do with this? Why should folks give Live another chance? This is the third strike! This post makes absolutely no sense.

Sorry?? I didn't buy the game and never will buy another EA Baskettball game unless they some way bring back NBA STREETS VOL.2. I feel like the NBA LIVE/ELITE series is a flawed franchise. Where the guys over at 2K try to make the game feel and look authentic, EA on the other hand is looking to incorporate to much arcade into the game, from the visuals to the way the game feels and that's the messed up part. If your advertising the game as an authentic representation of the sport then do that.... don't half *** the consumer. IF THEY ARE TRULY SORRY, DROP THE PRICE OF THE GAME/BETA FROM $60 to $20!!!!!

Making improvements is easy. The question is how much of which ones.

EA knew they had a **** product and tried to hide that fact until after people bought their game; disgusting.

Too little too late. The EA developers didn't notice their game looked and sounded like crap well before release? Get real. EA has such a huge ego that they fail to notice obvious shortcomings with their games. I think they need to watch real sports on TV and try to replicate what they see to the videogame world.

What do y expect them to do, EA is a publicly traded video game company, their goal is to make money. Every company does this, do you think that movie Deliveryman would have given early copies to get reviewed. The obvious answer is no.

Read reviews then buy, I have not bought a truly terrible game since the advent of the internet. Anyone who blindly buys games deserves what they get. I do however feel bad for the kids who gets a PS4 or X1 for Christmas with NBA live as the only game, that would be a real kick in the balls.

IMO, the game's visuals are the biggest problems. What can honestly be patched to address this? I've never seen a patch provide a huge bump to graphics.

I don't know, the game is slow (sliders may help), the ball physics (or lack thereof) definitely don't help. The rebounding game is pretty rough. Floor spacing is good, but just due to the fact that the other players don't necessarily move. Animations are needed, badly. I can handle the player models, other "graphics", but this game needs a LOT of animations, transition animations, etc. We'll see. If they can update the game, and make it play a better game of basketball, then I'm all for it. Always nice to have alternatives, even if it's just for a 1 off or 2 off game to break up the monotony of playing the same game, over and over.

The more I think about that apology, the more I'm made to feel like a moron that doesn't know how to play a game and only cares about visuals.
