Is there any defense in this game?

You can just turbo in with anybody and make a layup

You can try changing your coach settings to "double team on the drive."

And you can also double tap up on the d-pad to call a "pack the paint" emphasis.

But honestly, none of that stuff really matters. If the guy you're playing wants to turbo and hop step into the paint every time, there's not much you can do to stop it.

After putting some time in the demo, I could see giving this game a chance based off of the potential improvements. But the fact that gameplay is touted as the focus when there is practically no physicality in the paint is a red flag.

That really is no solution as to why there is absolutely no defense inside in this game

          It's all a result of:

          1) Very few charging calls

          2) Bad collision detection

          3) Frequent clipping

          4) Lack of contact animations

Add all those things up, and you get a game that is dominated by interior offense.

I get a lot of charges called against the CPU on the demo, but the game does lack contact animation. I had Tyson Chandler going ham on me because he warping right pass my man.

not true at all. makes me wonder are you playing vs a user at your home or online-online is laggy as hell right now. or are you playing vs the cpu?

cause i've noticed i can make great moves to get by my man but if a big is in the paint. with others close by. i might get my layup or dunk blocked going into all that traffic. now there are times when the defenders dont jump to block it or they slide over to late. and you get that animation where you barely touch the defenders shoulder or side and get by them for the easy layup/dunk.

I can try to answer this qusetion. Basically being a big body doesn't do much being on the inside. Not for reboudngin, blocking, what have you, it doesn'et matter. YOu can manipulate any position in the game and the game doesn't feel like real basketball. A 7'0 center can do crossovers and spins like there is no tomorrow and drive to the basketball like Jordan. That's the problem

When playing the CPU, you have to control the Centre or Power Forward, and let your CPU team mate control the perimeter.

CPU scored 54 of 69 points in the paint on me before I tried this, the CPU is more reluctant to go in the paint once you control the paint manually

not true at all. thats that off ball defense nonsense. lol.

but thats your choice. if you want to play that way.

YOU CAN STOP THE DRIBBLE DRIVERS. by playing on ball defense. you have to read the manual and understand basketball principles.

                              On-Ball Defense

With so many dribble packages and signature moves, it’s easy to assume the offense will be unstoppable. This isn’t the case though, as the defense is more than capable of keeping up with ball-handlers. Defenders take realistic cutoff angles to deny offensive players a lane to the basket, and realistic physics and foot-planting mean that defenders must be aware of angles and depth since they can’t cut on a dime.

AI defenders will play the ball-carrier differently depending on his talents. For instance, most defenders don’t respect Rajon Rondo’s jumper, so they’re likely to play loose defense in order to deny him the opportunity to get to the basket. Conversely, they’ll stay tight on Steph Curry for fear of giving him room to hoist up a three, so he’ll almost always need to create space off the dribble in order to get an open look.

User-controlled defenders will have to know when to play tight and when to back off, but there are plenty of tools to help you harass the offense. Sliding to one side or another, contesting a shot or taking a charge are all mapped to the right thumbstick, and a simple flick executes each command. You can also hold the LT/L2 button to slow down your movements in order to take better angles and stay in front of the ball.
