It was like that for me until I increased the difficulty. Since you're teammates are controlled by cpu ai, they seem to get a boost. I find that I need to call plays frequently to get other teammates involved, otherwise the same plays get run again and again.

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
Can anyone explain how to get some separation with the basic crossover (ie flick R stick non ball hand) when driving, it's the one thing other than my lack of proficiency on defense that stops me enjoying the game as much as I'd like to right now.
When I perform a cross it's so lack lustre sometimes I can't even tell if the ball has shifted hands, the player also does not seem to deviate from his original path. I appreciate that this game is slightly different in that it's not animation driven, but if someone could help me I would be very grateful.Comment

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
flip the left stick opposite of the ball hand, and follow up with the right stick.
the trick of this is a little delay/timing
first left stick, then right.
try it outComment

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
I watched Scott O'Gallagher's Twitch stream last week and he talked a lot about dribbling and slowing down the pace of how you move the RS. You really have to allow the ball to get into someone's hand before you move to a next move. After I saw that, I really took some time and practiced it. I really started to see a difference with Rondo and how much I could break people down. There were even times when the defender was shaky after I put some moves together. It really is slick when you get the motions down.Comment

I know a lot of people are struggling with paint defence. Play a few games with the Houston rockets and play defence with Dwight Howard. If you pay attention you'll be able to feel which side the defender is going to depending on which side the controller rumbles. Once you use this it's a lot easier to play d in the paint.
The better the paint defender the more reliable it is.

jup, its really all about how your timing is with the sticks. need to be gentle, patient and aware of your defenders feet.Comment

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
I am still struggling with this. So just to clarify if the ball is in your right hand you flick the left stick to the left and then follow that up with flicking the right stixk to the left?
It seems to me that as soon as you flick the left stick the player switches his dribbling hand anyway rendering the right stick input ineffective?Comment

yeah, but I'm having issues with it also. I can do it in shoot around and some times in rising star, because of the camera angel. but with the regular espn, it's much harder. because of the angel.
I think that moving the left stick up or down, towards the off hand and the right stick left or right. but I'm not sure.Comment

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
Is there someone out there who can provide me with some gameplay Videos? I just cant win - Not even on Rookie!
Defensive i get about 90% of their Points in the paint...Offensive my Shots rarely fall...even if timing is good! Only way i Can score are Eurosteps or Crazy 3s Near End of the Game....but that cant be it?Comment

Here you go.

Defensively, you need to be conscious of who you are guarding and guarding them with. Looks at the opponents player ratings and either set up the coaching settings to take away their strengths, or user guard them to make them take shots you want them to take. I like to user defend, so this game I tried sagging off of Lebron and Wade..making them take jump shots.
Offense you need to be patient. pay attention to how your defender is reacting to your moves. If the move creates space for a jumper...take it. If he is playing you tight, jap or side step, size up and break him down off of the dribble. Use screen-roll to try to create some space, movement and mismatchesComment

Re: Tips & Controls for NBA Live 14
Reading this thread makes me want to continue playing this game.
Is it actually possible to make shots at a realistic clip and I just need to work on the mechanics of offense?
