Here's the thing. 700K units is a LOT. This game has NO momentum at all right now and we're looking for it to jump to 700K units when most of the buying public think it's trash? I don't know. Maybe the suits finally learned their lesson about being patient cause around the same time frame Live 10 had done about 230,000+ and we see how they freaked about that.

Precisely! How is this game going to jump to those numbers with the bad rep label placed on them already? Its always good to be optimistic, but we also have to look at reality. If Live 15 does not see huge numbers, then I won't be surprised if Peter Moore makes a statement.

because a lot of the opinions are based on visuals (graphics and animations). i would say on various forums i visit about 70-80% of the negative posts i see are from people who say "i tried the demo for five minutes and had to turn it off."
i dont know about you but i cant form a good opinion about any game from a five minute session. i got back into basketball gaming with live 09/2k9. i played the demos for both and ended up buying live 09. the first time i played nba 2k9 i hated it. but i gave it another chance after playing live 09 for a while and the more i played it the more it grew on me and i ended up buying it.
if they improve the visuals and fix the various bugs and ai issues (which shouldnt be too difficult) then they have a great shot at 700K units or more next year. the sad truth is that visuals are one of if not THE most important things to a majority of gamers.

I don't know, I won't pretend to know the outcome, but to me that seems unlikely. You may very well be that guy that goes back and gives it a chance but the rest of the people out there that have to help get that number clearly aren't doing it. You, WTF and others are having fun. You gave it a chance and you're enjoying the game and you're sharing those thoughts on the board, I'd imagine there are more people doing the same out there somewhere. Despite that people have made up their minds on the game. Live needed to come out and hit a homerun in this game IMO or at least not wet the bed out of the gate like they did. They didn't need to come out and underwhelm people which is what they did. Now with "same old Live" in people's minds, it's going to be harder to get them to give them a look next year.

We'll see how it goes though.
i completely agree. what im saying is that if they are able to improve the visuals enough then people will give it a chance. that will be key for them to have success next year. the gameplay is good enough (if they fix the bugs) but the visuals are important for sales.

I see where you're coming from, I just don't see it. Live 10 looked good visually too. How'd that sell? They need more than graphics to get the fanbase back. It's not going to happen overnight. This is the question, will the suits give the time needed for them to get back?
Way more than graphics, though that's part of it. It's 2014 and an NBA game is on the market that doesn't have in-game injuries, no sliders, no roster editing, no CAP outside of RS mode, no practice mode for a game with a new control scheme which we haven't seen on shelves since 2009 (think about just how long that really is in video games), and barebones almost laughable commentary.
Almost everyone I know who is big on NBA games would call at least one, if not all of the above deal breakers.
That's without discussing graphics or animations.
There's a bigger picture here. But like WTF said, I believe there will be a Live 15 to think about it. I mean, to come out like this then cancel again next year, it'd amount to pretty much giving up on NBA forever. How would they recover from that?

Another good post and with issues like this is the reason I created this thread. The games future to me is a question mark with all these concerning things holding the game back from truly being next gen. Last they have become the laughing stock of sports games.

So you think the lack of in-game injuries, sliders, roster editing, create a player and practice mode doesn't make Live 14 a next-gen game? I'd say those things doesn't make a game next-gen but I agree that those should be already on any sport game next-gen or not.
To this date, they have sold 136,494 units globally on both XBox One and PS4. Of course we should be concerned for Live 15.
Heres the thing, they went into this knowing sales were gonna be bad. There is no way they realistically could have thought this game was gonna come anywhere near close to selling well no matter how good the gameplay was. They havent released a game since 09. The other game has completely taken over the market. There was little to zero marketing for Live 14. I think this year was all about actually releasing a playable game to the public. Now they will build on it. The biggest issue they face from here on out is people will pass judgement on this game without even playing it. Everyone has a comfort zone with the other game so its easy to go pick it up cause its a "safe bet" so to speak. We will get a Live 15 no doubt. The question is will it be good enough to gain some momentum and get people to jump on board for a Live 16.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.
Play Ryse on Xbox1. That's next gen feel. Even though it lacks depth. Live simply needs graphics to be considered next gen
Maybe in some people's minds, perhaps.
But the things I laid out in my previous post aren't "things it needs to be considered next gen" and I hope no one takes it that way. Folks are writing off the backlash and negative reviews/impressions out there as being graphics related when in reality that's only one piece of the pie.
Most the things I mentioned are more aptly titled "things any sports game available in 2014 need to have to be taken seriously period" and that's whether it's on X360/PS3 or next gen.

No! If they would have released those other games in the past, then we would not be here discussing these things not in the game. I'm talking about the overall package in the game like visuals, animations, player motion, a.i., and etc. They have set themselves way back. Live 14 is a foundation, but will EA be patient and willing to invest more even with the low sales numbers?
