but we're used to see good graphics with espn...not live...thats why im assuming stuff

lets not start 'one of those' threads...the consensus(sp) last season was that live had great gameplay...they just had to improve visuals

its a pure wait and see approach from me

you made the suggestion that espn are renders too...my mind hasnt changed...i was trying to avoid conflict

those graphics look like the ones on nba tv...i doubt they'll be in the game...if they are thats better for the game(and they still wont be better than 2k)

Are you talking about the ESPN pics at IGN the other day?
Come on, they are 100% real gameplay pics. Haven't you ever played ESPN NBA before? It looks almost identical to last year... Plus you can see jaggies on the edges of the player models.

Anyway, some memories of last year...

                  First preview pics...

And we all know what the final game looked like...

Not to mention the fact that screenshots hide the bad frame rate.

Sorry, boys (not including jordan or admiral) but these are renders, not fully representing what it will actually look like in game. Just more marketing smoke and mirrors, not surprising coming from EA though.

There are a couple of subtle hints which tip off it being a render. The biggest is probably the lighting. Notice how the specular highlighting ("glossy" appearance) on the ball and some of the hands is EXTREMELY fine, which is only possible with an extremely large amount of small triangles, in fact too many for what current console systems can handle, especially when talking about 15 of those models and the ball at once. Should also be a tipoff when theyre only shots of two players, the ball, and NO BASKET (surprised nobody else noticed that).

Definitely a working model, will eventually be scaled back in detail to fit what current systems can handle performance wise. I would expect this kind of detail to be put into the next generation system sports games, though.
