I know you said gameplay. But ...

Wouldn't it be cool to use gameface for your created player for your rising star mode ?

Hard choice between speed and animations.... tough to choose just one. I find it very hard to come off a pick with any type of speed which is really frustrating as it doesn't allow for the next phase of the "play" to play out...

            Online!!!

When is EA going to realize that is their competitor's main weakness and the greatest opportunity to be a 'special' NBA tittle way over 2k?

            Cheers! ;-)

I just remembered what I really want from a gameplay perspective. It does require the responsive controls, but I really want to see ball movement like the Spurs.

The cutting and passing off of pick and rolls the rotating help defense would easily make the game fun.

having good online still doesn't make the game sell if the gameplay isn't worth anything

Re: If you could name ONE Gameplay element that you want to see...

My first choice would have to be DEFENSE. DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. Allow me to be able to move and actually cut people off, or contest dunks and layups. I've been playing this game a whole lot lately, and the lack of defense is the only thing at this point that really agitates me about this game.

Second choice is control responsiveness. Players just don't react to my commands. The turbo button is a joke because it takes 5 seconds for the players to get up to a full sprint. Its hard to defend because if my man makes a quick stop, my players momentum carries him like 10 feet before he reacts to the move. Kind of frustrating.

But outside of that stuff, I've really been enjoying this game, honestly. Live and the Show are really the only games I've had in rotation lately.

There also was better momentum especially for jumpshots as you had momentum shots as long as you were running that direction instead of the wonky stop and go straight up shots.
But I agree with everyone here, that to me feels to be the main thing taking away from the game, the speed at which everything happens. These are the best and most explosive athletes in the world and they have to move as such. I should be able to not only perform but feel the difference between using LeBron and someone like Paul Pierce.
Live 10 had what I would refer to as fake momentum. Everything was tied into uncontrollable animations. It looked better than a lot of things in Live 14, but you weren't really in control.

I would say the biggest thing that I would like to see is a variety of quickness and speeds for each player. Being able to explode off the first step, or change up how fast you move is paramount to keeping defenders on their heels in basketball, but I don't feel like that has ever been represented well in any video game. It seems like most games have 2-3 speeds: walk, slow jog, and run.

I agree. I could never getinto live10 due to its consistent delay of controller response. I had to run plays or force the issue and hope it went in my favor. It wasn't fun becauseI couldn't be creative. Live 14 is better in that regard due to the response of jumpshot controls, but the slow passing and lack of perimeter rotation leads to only one pass out ofa double team, rather than a potential swing pass or extra pass.

"Why choose one when you can have 500 of them?"

Anyway, to me it's, the way the players move/animate. Speeding the game up would not fix it, since players would still move the same way - just faster ---- a-la Charlie Chaplin movie from the 30's. There is no excuse for this.

Right. The speed of the players isn't the issue. It's the response time to the controller input. Right now the movement requires too much prediction, while reaction times are slow. I'd like a happy medium with good response time while still maintaining that sense of weight and momentum.

i think creating a better pace for the game would be vital, it seems almost every team plays slow. also off-ball movement will help as well. if you dont run a play then guys kinda ball watch.

I want actually physical reactions, not just character animations playing out. I want to see players actually interact with one-another rather than just an can-animated or a simply bump. There were huge clipping and foot-planting issues in Live 14 and hopefully it gets addressed. I hated when players collided in mid-air and the defender simply slides away in mid-air or when the offensive player either does the dumb double-clutch animation or simply clip through the defender. I hope the programmers take momentum, velocity, and mass into account when programming this game. Simple, just overhaul the damn collision detection. I know it's hard to do, but damn Live 14 was bad in that area.
