How NBA Live can detroy 2K

It may take a while for NBA Live to outdo 2K in the graphics department, which is their strength clearly.

But if EA is smar they will recognize that a lot of gamers like me are more interested in the suite of features in the Online area, specifically Online Franchise Mode.

I would sacrifice graphics in a heartbeat for a better Online Franchise Mode.

2K is so grossly behind in Online Association features it's crazy. Basic things like an AUTO PILOT feature are still not in 2K's Online Association. That is a downright disgrace.

If the NBA Live team wants to hit 2K where it hurts, that is where they should focus their attention. Make NBA Live Online Franchise equal in features to at least the Madden CFM level and/or NCAA Online Dynasty level and you are in business trust me.

I do agree with that.

I would love for NBA Live to have a good Online Franchise mode, an online My Player Mode, with 5 on 5 capabilities.

I would buy it just for these features, as long as the gameplay wasn't absolutely horrible.

It starts with more user control. 2K's VC is predicated on the user needing to build up or pay for more freedoms. In many ways its linear if for no other reason than to create ways for you to pay as you move up the ladder.

They removed 30 team control and removed the large majority of editing options. Very little about 2K's vision consist of administrative control.

This is where Live can him them hard at the core of the game. More user control, more editing features, play editing, coach editing, team editing and administrative control over CPU trades, games and sim stats.

Ironically all the things 2K was built on and abandoned in the name of micro transactions.

"Destroy"? Boy, you're taking it a little bit too personal. "Hit 2K where it hurts"....what the...?

Anyway, at this point, Live does not need to look at 2K even for 1 second. All they need to look at is real life human beings playing NBA basketball. All the answers are there.

After they get all this right, then it's time to develop everything else. That's how I see it.

I think Live needs to attract the casual fans by upgrading the graphics a lot, which they seem to have with their latest pictures, and then not only improve modes like Dynasty and Rising Star, but get modes that many 2K fans ask for year in and year out such as Crew and a better Online Association. Gameplay needs to be improved a lot too, which it sounds like they've done by reading posts from devs here. Also, don't have micro-transactions like VC in your game outside of Ultimate Team. I think if they had all that, it'd be the ultimate NBA game and could beat out 2K. Of course this would all take more than one year, but they could at least improve a lot from Live 14 in one year.

To put it short, improve everything from Live 14.

Yes, I agree, but at the same time, we all know where the other franchise is lacking since I can remember... Online Servers and Online Gameplay (exploits and cheesers are the kings there)...

So if, with a decent core product, Live 15 can provide a seamless online experiencie, with good servers, almost no lag, and gameplay as free as possible from cheesers (something like Fifa 14 in manual can offer right now), that is the beggining of the future in my book...

I like to try playing basketball in the console, and I want to be rewarded doing so (playing fundamental basketball), and I want to do it playing my friends in organized and customizable leagues/associations...

If Live 15 can provide all of that, they will have my money, my respect and my gratitude...

And NBA live 10 was onto something special with the real time nba season mode. You select ONE team, play along in a REAL season. Everything else in the league that's happening around you in your console, is what you see in reality.

I remember that was amazing.

NBA 2k tried doing something similar, but it was trash and it wasn't really up to date. You literally had to start a new mode everytime to get up to date with the real world of nba.

This post only talks about graphics and online features. What about gameplay and gameplay mechanics? How accurate and realistic is it?

Seems like a lot of people are hung up on online franchise and graphics. If you don't have the proper gameplay mechanics and the game doesn't feel realistic to play, then features like that are uninteresting.

What Live needs to do is to get their gameplay up to par with 2K before they focus on features, imo.

Have to change the body type, the body model only works with fifa and madden because they are much larger fields.

If game play and animations are not right, then nothing else matters to me. Ill be shocked Live 15 can get their players to move realistically.

Yeah, I agree - gameplay, movement/animations are top priority.

But if they really want to punish the other company, they need to cancel their game. Which would bring back the situation of no-competition...which would make the other company take their foot off the gas...which might make it worse. That'll teach 'em a lesson!

Online franchises? The games feel like its running on the Madden engine. Too many stiff, bad animated animations, and no immersion. Will take a miracle to catch 2k. Not happening.

NBA Live needs to focus on how not to destroy themselves before they can inflict damage upon others.
