Take a loss this year and hope to make up for it in the following years. If Live 15 is truly a quality game and they sell it for $19.99 this year to get it in more peoples hand, trust me, the next year those people will pay full price for it. Their is no way they can ever catch up to NBA 2K selling this game at full price just like 2K Sports realized they could never catch up to Madden selling their game at full price.

Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
And sell NBA Live 15 for $19.99, lets be real, no matter how good Live 15 is no one is going to pay $59.99 for it when NBA 2K15 is sitting on the shelf next to it. I say they do what NFL ESPN 2K5 did back in 2004 and sell their game for $19.99 just to get people to play it.

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
No, EA has been taking losses for years by not releasing the game, not gonna happen -
Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
Won't happen. NBA wouldn't allow it. Why you think we only got one nfl game?Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
Live needs to do something drastic if they wanna be back on top again. They are never going to do that by going blow for blow with NBA 2K (unless NBA 2K seriously drops the ball along the way.) the best way to go about this is to get the game into as many people hands as possible.Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
To be completely honest with you, a 20$ price tag would be enough to entice me to grab the game. Especially in light of one of the developers comments about Live 14, which came off to me as admitting that it was a essentially a beta. I can accept that, but I'm not paying 60$ for one when I have NBA2K sitting right next to it on the shelf. At this point Live 15 is a no-go. But the demo/trial could change that for me if the game is tightened up significantly. I know about no editing and that little has been done with Dynasty, so the gameplay absolutely has to be on point for me now. We'll see soon enough.Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
Absolutely, if the game has a 3yr process, then the price of each edition until it reaches that goal should be 1/3 each. Will never pay full price for this game until editing code and options are added and the final edition is releasedComment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
I believe part of the NBA licensing contract is that both games have to be priced the same unless it's a digital only releaseComment

I don't believe the NBA has that in its contract. I think they just take a set percentage regardless the price or a bit lower/higher under a certain price point.Follow me:https://twitter.com/OVzBack

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
I believe part of the reason the $20 price tag worked so well for 2K5 was due to the NFL game's pretty substantial hype leading up to release. My memory has faded a little about their pre-release but I feel as though they were dropping bombs left and right. The game looked great and hype was building. Then, so as to completely blow up the spot, I feel as though 2K revealed the $20 price tag and released NFL 2K5 early (Wiki says it was July 20. That's very early, no?)
Basically, I think a lot of people were going to buy NFL 2K5 that year regardless, based off of its very apparent quality at the time of release. The price tag just knocked things out of the park. With NHL and NBA already featuring healthy critical appeal, their $20 price tags made for easy purchases as well. 'Twas a great year for sports gamers when accounting for MVP Baseball.
I think a $20 price tag would only be beneficial if EA was very confident in their product and its ability to bring gamers back. Elsewise, a reduced price may just draw gamers in enough to realize their product is not too great, thus pushing them further away in the future.Comment
