What are some things that a (former) 2K player should know about Live?

I'm used to 2K and haven't played Live in around 7 years. What are some settings / camera angles that I should use to make the transition from 2K to Live a bit smoother?

Also, is there an alternate controller scheme that resembles 2K, or that allows me to shoot with the right stick?

Go into it with the mindset that you are learning a new control style. Your player doesn't control like 2k. Don't look to win, look to learn first. Learn what you can/can't do prior to competing.

    Just have fun.

so you can't shoot with the right stick? and is there any camera that resembles the 2K camera? Not looking for an exact copy, but something that's similar would be cool.

Not going to get to play until tomorrow, so that's why i'm asking in advance.

The big difference you will notice is the control aspect. 2K has longer drawn out animations so they take away control from the user to play out. However they look very pretty and lifelike. Live has shorter animations that you can break out of but they dont always look as good as 2K animations.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Shooting is done with the X/Square button, rather than the right stick. The right stick is strictly for dribble moves. Also, gather moves are done with the Y/Triangle button, so you will need to get used to that. The baseline cameras are pretty close to the 2k cam.

One other big difference is the pick and roll game. You call for screens with LT/L2, and you need to hold it down to keep the screener in place. What he does from there (slip, roll, pop) will depend on when you release the button, but you make the decision on the fly, as opposed to deciding before the screen in 2k. He won't move until you release the trigger.

              ^This.

Also, set both Human and CPU (I believe it is Home and Away) Auto Motion to ON. This will give you movement from all players which 2K does naturally.

Also, call plays most of the time down the court (D-pad left or right + L1 on PS4). This adds great pace to the game rather than having it turn into a run & gun fest. The pace of Live 15 is one of the more underrated aspects of this game that not many people are talking about.

Lastly, just have fun. Cut out the noise that you may read on here by people who want to focus on everything the game can't do.

Control your players like you would in a real game of basketball, dont' abuse exploits you find and don't cheese and play to have fun. Live can be blast. It controls a lot different from 2k, and that's good, different is good.

I've had way more fun with live than I had with 2k

Live looks fun, much improved over last year.

I think what shocked me most after reading this was that there are actually people out there who shoot with the right stick. I find it impossible to time. Reminds me of when fight nights made you swing punches with the left and right stick.

This is exactly right. Live is different. Once you learn the moves, what works, what doesn't work, how to shoot, how the AI responds to different situations, etc. it is very fun. I would give it a few hours (at least) to sink in.

2k is amazing game. But i havent been beaten by basketball skill. Always comes down to a few plays were i lose control, off rebounds, dumb cpu contest etc.

Lost by 15 yesterday and walked away feeling defeated but in a good way. 3pt is a little wacky for me at the moment.

Will continue to play both. Niether represent simulated nba. Just 2 different takes on bball.

They did absolutely nail the pacing. I hope they never change it.

                            Yep.

And I misspoke about the play calling. Just hold the D-pad, Left, Right or Up. No need for L1.

I would suggest picking a team, going into the shoot around, and practicing your shots and moves before playing full court. It will help your gameplay a lot as you get comfortable with the shooting ( faster releases), custom dribbles and movement in game of each player on your team.
