How is the difficulty for you?

I love this game, it's a lot of fun. Although, I play on the hardest difficulty, Superstar, and I can't lose against the computer. I am a big Dynasty Mode player, I play against the CPU a lot. I rarely play sports games online, because of the huge amount of cheesers that play.

On release I started playing on the default difficulty and slowly amped it up over time. I can take the worst teams and beat the best ones every time, by double digits.

Is anyone else finding this game way too easy, even on Superstar difficulty? Or does anyone have any tips on making the game harder? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hate to sound like a broken record but this is the exact reason why Sliders would have been great for this game.

I figured once guys started to get more games under their belt they would find it easy to win regardless of difficult level.

That has always been the case with NBA Live.

The beauty of having sliders is that then you can modify any level (Pro, AA or SS) to boost up the CPU or gameplay.

Keep up the good fight man, they will listen soon enough.

Starting to Sim the second half of my dynasty games because the CPU is no challenge.

To increase the difficulty level you will need to adjust the team coaching defensive settings found a the welcome screen and set on ball and off ball pressure to high/tight. Also may want to tinker with the force direction option. I have mine set to baseline and that seems to help the cpu's defensive positioning.

Also I suggest you apply these settings to only 2 teams and test for results before applying them to all 30 teams!

Once they updated the game earlier this week I found that the game play became smoother( I am beginning to question if this was due to an update or the units temperature changing). The downside is the aforementioned defensive settings no longer are as effective but still workable. On the plus side these settings (defensive intensity) discourage the cpu from always driving and encourages more jump shots. It also brings down fg% to more realistic figures and forces more contact around the perimeter , in the paint and overall! This also impacts fatigue levels to a more realistic degree and makes it more difficult to steal without being called for a foul due to the amped defensive aggressiveness.

In addition, the cpu will jump into the passing lanes more frequently and will pick off unrealistic passes. This will keep you honest and focused as you play the game. Some of these ideas are a modification of Tombas settings. You may want to look into changing the offensive setting to push the ball if you wish.

A word of caution. If you find the defense too challenging, adjust only off ball pressure to high and set onball to normal. Conversely you can set on ball to tight and off ball to normal. This will provide a better balance. The cpu will shoot more jumpshots with this setup. You can max out both as you improve, however cpu offense will suffer as a consequence. Give it a try and let's hear your results.

Addendum. Also set your charging foul to max and reduce blocking foul to 45 or so. This will make you more mindful of crashing into the paint for a dunk without fear of a consequence.

Will they patch the difficulty. Then should know it was to easy by testing this. How does the nba live team not know and do nothing about it. You wondering why ea is getting a lot negative feedback these days.

For me, My games are just weird. In my ultimate team when I Play a sad rated team like the Lakers, I got blown out the other day. And I got 5 starters in the high 80's. Then I can play a regular exhibition game with like the Pacers, and blow out the CPU. Don't know what the variances are, but I can't place why I Get blown out one day and blow out the cpu another day.

I wish I could say the same. I just tried Superstar and found it nearly impossible to play defense. The computer either easily blows past me or feeds the ball to the post which is unstoppable as some crazy animation triggers and they hit a weird jumper or animate their way to a no miss layup.

Re: How is the difficulty for you?

Possible reason for variances in games played. I noticed one day while playing that the game seemed to move a lot faster and play smoother when the room temperature was lower. Conversely, when the temperature rose, the game slowed down and stuttered a bit more. I found this interesting so I set out to prove this observation. I purchased a thermaltake exhaust fan for the Ps4 and placed it behind the Ps4 in order to draw air out and into the opening at the rear of the console cabinet. I also purchased an infrared temperature measure to keep track of heat buildup.

The result. I measured the Ps4 temperature (top of Ps4 above Gpu/cpu) without the fan and recorded temps in the 45 Celsius and above range! With the fan in place the unit hardly goes past 28 Celsius!

Here's how it has impacted gameplay. When the unit is below 25 Celsius/77 F, gameplay is noticeably faster and defense becomes non existent for the most part. Naturally, scoring averages go up as you can imagine. It's almost a different game at this point and not in a good way. On the other hand, I get a slower more balanced game with slighly more stutter when the units temp is between 25 and 30 Celcius.

So, if possible, keep track of your units heat buildup as it appears to affects the game. I wish there was a way for the developers to take this into account and find a way to make the disparities less or better non existent with temperature fluctuations. I have to keep mine at a certain range in order to experience a more balanced game. Please share your thoughts and experiences regarding this subject.

I play with house rules to not reach in for steals and limit my time outs so the cpu can go on some runs with my bench players on the court. If the cpu ai was improved to play smarter then it is now without adding in cheese mechanics it would help out to cut down on their wasted possessions.
