No, I actually wish this was a joke. The temperature of the Ps4 seems to affect how the game plays from observation. The best way to prove it is to perform a similar test like the one I described. Just offering a possibility as to why the game appears bipolar at times. Btw, I confirmed that NBA 2k15 performs in a similar manner as temperatures fluctuated in the unit. Room temp affected the Ps4 to some degree. The biggest factor in keeping the unit consistently cool was the exhaust fan.

At the very least, find out your units temp during typical operation and observe how the game plays at different points during temp fluctuations.Very simple!

In my case my Ps4 operates at a very cool temp so this may not apply to you if you are not using a third party cooling solution hence my suggestion that you observe the heat levels of your respective units.

I implemented a no switching on defense house rule vs the CPU.

Since then, the CPU has been able to win some games.

Best strategy hands down especially since the game doesn't have sliders to boost up the CPU AI right now.

I used to always control the C or PG only on Defense (No Switch Rule).

Conversely, when the temperature rose, the game slowed down and stuttered a bit more. I found this interesting so I set out to prove this observation. I purchased a thermaltake exhaust fan for the Ps4 and placed it behind the Ps4 in order to draw air out and into the opening at the rear of the console cabinet. I also purchased an infrared temperature measure to keep track of heat buildup.

The result. I measured the Ps4 temperature (top of Ps4 above Gpu/cpu) without the fan and recorded temps in the 45 Celsius and above range! With the fan in place the unit hardly goes past 28 Celsius!

Here's how it has impacted gameplay. When the unit is below 25 Celsius/77 F, gameplay is noticeably faster and defense becomes non existent for the most part. Naturally, scoring averages go up as you can imagine. It's almost a different game at this point and not in a good way. On the other hand, I get a slower more balanced game with slighly more stutter when the units temp is between 25 and 30 Celcius.

So, if possible, keep track of your units heat buildup as it appears to affects the game. I wish there was a way for the developers to take this into account and find a way to make the disparities less or better non existent with temperature fluctuations. I have to keep mine at a certain range in order to experience a more balanced game. Please share your thoughts and experiences regarding this subject.
          LOL!

If you set Roughing The Passer to 100 the RB's run out of bounds more.

If you set Holding to 0 the kickers miss more FG's.

And if you set Run Block to 50 then the WR's drop more passes.

This is how i fill when ever i read the Madden slider forum....your post just gave me that same WTF feeling...

Always happy to contribute to some levity around here!

I would still like to hear from someone who has tried this or something similar.

Also guys, please also look around the Web and do your research. It's been well documented throughout the years that excessive heat buildup can hamper system performance leading to game freezes and frame rate drops! The Ps4 especially is no exception due to its small former factor and heat dissipation design.

If you experience excessive heating may depend on where you store your unit and if there is ample ventilation and airflow is maximized! I will admit that my media cabinet is not the most well ventilated. Being mindful of this, I always purchase or use a third party internal/external fan/ to protect my investment ( regardless of what the platform developers tout about heat dissipation and system temps) and to ensure games are running optimally. The environment is always a factor. I have been doing this for far too many years to count on various platforms including PC's and the differences have been noticeable. Don't forget, the gpu used in the Xbox 1 and Ps4 (AMD Radeon) began its life on the PC and behaves similarly in concern with heat, etc. Please stay open minded in regards to this topic.

As a recent example of heat concerns and frame rate limitations, the developer of Final Fantasy XIV did not want to guarantee 60 fps due to excessive heating of the Ps4 during development. Yosida-san mentioned that the game could drop to as low as 20 fps depending. Do you think this can affect your gaming experience? The answer is yes, heat can and will affect your gaming if there is excessive buildup that's left unchecked!

My next goal is to find a frame rate checker app for the Ps4 for further validation!
