I used Option 1. It seemed like the pacing by the CPU team was faster. Sometimes they would attack the hoop, sometimes they would pass the ball around looking for an open shot. They weren't predictable, which was awesome! The good players really stand out now and can take over a game if not guarded closely. On my side of the ball, it also seemed like there were more players in motion and the transition game was quite smooth. I'm seeing many new animations, but this may be due to the recent patch. You still get the occassional wonky animation, mainly right around the basket, but the patches and settings have improved that greatly. It's not a perfect game, but it's good enough for me to play it instead of NBA 2K this year. Like many have stated recently, it's just a fun game! I'm a big atmosphere guy, so to me the arenas make the game just beautiful!

Re: Settings for more balanced offense/defense post 12/12/2014 patch
Option 1 is my personal favorite as well and you captured the reasons for this in your response! You are right, with these settings you MUST remain disciplined throughout the game or the cpu will toast you. I enjoy seeing the Superstars stand out as you mentioned and earn their points in a more realistic fashion from all over the court. Just brings the realism out! Also, the unpredictable element is what it's all about!
The spacing as you mentioned is better and that opens up the mid range game in particular for the cpu! The patch really beefed up defense and makes these settings even better! If you noticed, your teammates and the cpu are more actively engaged on that side of the ball and more effectively anticipate passes for steals. The post D is also better as previously noted and the animations are very nice with the improved smoothness!
I have been going back and forth between Option 1 and All Star Mode with default defensive settings. Both play well but I get a better challenge with Option 1 based on the tests I've been performing! I really think some others will be pleasantly surprised if they tried these settings. Again, we really appreciate your tests and feedback!Last edited by Calvenn; 12-23-2014, 12:38 PM.Comment

I haven't found that option either to be honest. If you want to reset the defensive settings use Auto for both onball and off ball. You an also adjust the others to normal if using Tomba's settings. Hopefully someone can answer the reset question.
I will say that with recent updates, except yesterday's which I have heard only neegatives, the game plays well and similar to my settings with better defense. The cpu gives a nice challenge from what I can tell.Comment
