Re: For sake of Videogame balance, lower layups across the board

i dont think the problem is people making the layups. i think its more the fact of HOW they are hitting layups.

say what you wana say about nba players/ people making most layups. but im damn well sure if we put a 6'4 PG vs a 6'7+ player, layups shouldnt be dropping like wildfire.

^^^^^^THOSE ^^^^^ SHOULDNT BE GOING IN 95% of the time. and in most of the games i play, it seems like they are for my opponent.

as for the live vs 2k thing. 2k nerfed the inside game 2 much. and thus killed it for the worse it seems, (my 6'2 PG can make layups in the park, but god forbid my 6'9 SF tries it) while EA made it too strong. i know a middleground be reached, the problem is, finding out who will hit it first

Well in 2k, at least offline, you can tweak lay up success to your preference. That's the importance of having sliders. NBA players miss contested layups. It happens.. (This reminds me of the old NBA 2K8 debate reversed, lol)

The example above, the uninterruptible fading layup from under the rim, the layup that starts from a few steps inside the FT line are automatic unless blocked, even with one or two guys in the area....I don't even know if you can block the last two.

      It needs to be tweaked.

Definitely needs to be fixed. Last night I got so frustrated with the layups I just had to quit. Jose Calderon going straight into the lane with Noah and Taj standing there and they could do nothing. Once the canned animation kicks in the layup is going in.

The game I played before was at Memphis and they had 72 points in the paint. Utterly ridiculous. Double on the catch, double on the drive, nothing worked.

I think maybe part of it is that the defenders close down so quickly on shooters that it basically eliminates the CPU from trying anything besides a wide open three, layup, or something in the post.

Fellas, got to be honest with you and say that im usually able to deter or block most of these layups in the game. Again, we may be looking at a "feel" situation here. Some layups obviously go in, but I've observed a good amount of misses as well, on both user and cpu ends! Also don't see those circus layups go in at a high clip.

Does it need tweaking? Perhaps, but very slightly IMO. It is very playable as is IMO as well!

I think you HAVE to play user defense and completely block them off from the lane, it's the icky way to stop it, even then it needs to be toned down to me a bit more than you might think but maybe less than others think. I think turning up mid range shots would help the balance

Re: For sake of Videogame balance, lower layups across the board

The main problem is, if you stop the CPU from doing lay ups, they won't score because they don't look for other shots enough. Last night I beat the CPU by 34 points because of that using the Grizzles against the Nets. All they did all game long was look for lay ups with the occasional 3 point attempt. Sad thing was though they were 1 for 15 from 3. And if you don't foul them, they won't go to the line either. The CPU only went to the line 6 times, compared to my 28 times and this was on 12 minutes Superstar.

There is no other way to say it or put it, the CPU AI in this game is TERRIBLE and don't resemble real life basketball. The only way to get the CPU to even attempt a mid range shot is to back up off them by 6 feet.

for all of the endless driving into the paint the cpu does its weird that they don't get the the line often.

This still needs to be addressed.

I played last night Twolves vs Rockets and I must admit basic shots in the paint seem to be lower however if I euro step in the lane the shot is good every time.

I think they need to add an AI mid range game, it's either drive the basket or shoot a 3.

Schwall. I made a post wanting an update on if there is even going to be a patch to fix this.

Can you confirm that you are working on a patch for this?
