Played Live 2005 Today for a While...

Well I played Live today at the Buffalo, NY Madden Challenge for a while...

I am not sure how to run down my feelings about the game but here goes...

The graphics in Dunk Contest, and Three Point shootout are great... Nice and crisp.. Dunk contest is HELLA hard, but cool..

But the Graphics during gameplay do not seem to be as sharp as Live 2004.. The guys look to be a little on the thin side, and when you have a guy with a headband on, the headbands are so thick that it makes their heads look Flat.. When the ball goes through the net the net moves but it seems as if only the very very bottom of the net moves, looks a little funny..

They Do have a ton of new animations, like catching a pass on the run on the break they have at least 4 different animations for that alone... They do still sometimes do that stupid jump with arms over the head catch which completely stops your break...

Bunch of new dunk animations are in the game, along with layup animations... The Pro hop is very difficult to excecute this year, as you will be called for a charge, or lose the ball often... But the good thing is if you do the pro hop and think that you are going to turn the ball over you can pass out of it.. The jumpshot animations are money, reggie miller actually shoots like he really does, Prince has the ugly lefty shot as well...
The runner/teardrop this year as like last year hardly ever goes in..

Freestyle dribbling does not seem to be as effective this year as it has been in previous years... The tip-ins seem to be tastefully done, meaning they are not money plays, you will miss a lot of tip-ins...

The low post back in (L1) is done differently this year, and I do not like it.. This year it seems to work like it did in ESPN last year, where your guys will keep backing up and then moving back to his previous spot and then backing up again... Instead of like last years realistic constant back in... There are a few different animations for the drop step this year... They do a drop like last years drop, and they do a double fake drop step.... But you have to be careful this year doing drop steps as you can be called for the charge.. Which tones the use of the drop step down similar to the pro hop... There is a ner animation for the jumpshot when running across the lane which looks great..
There are plenty of new foul animations... A new steal animation where your player will gamble for the steal and if they dont get it will leave the offensive player wide open..
They have a nice looking off the ball animation where your guy tries to get position by pushing off on the defender..
Another animation that I saw was steve nash throw a small nudging elbow to create some space on a drive to the basket..

The players seem to transition well from the Pro Hop animation into the layup or dunk animation, as well as the transition from catching a pass on the break with that new little jump catch to a layup or dunk...

The CPU AI plays brutal defense on Superstar default sliders

The blocked shot animations look, in a word SWEET... gone are the days of huge swats from behind, now 9 times out of 10 you get calm, ball controlling blocks and they look amazing...

For some reason the game felt a little unresponsive at times...Unfortunately the quick inbound is still "In The Game"

Please let me know if there is anything that I forgot, or you want to know and I will try to tell you....

This is game is definatly going to be a buy for me...

how is the mid range game compared to last years?
do you find yourself mainly running fast breaks off of rebounds or is it slowed down?

Ok so how is the mid-range game? And will their be a team practice in the practice mode? And what changes have been made to the player edits? And you also said that the players seemed somewhat skinny, and the fact that the headband thing seems to be the same as last year, therefor much in the player model department hasn't been addressed then right? and if this is so then we pretty much are playing last years version with a few mod!!!
Where they DO that? ? ?

It is definately slowed down at least %60...

Fast breaks are very hard to come by...

The computers mid-range game was great, my mid-range game sucked @$$.. I need to get used to the new jump shot animation...

I have no Idea about team practice mode, I didnt have time to look through the franchise mode, because everyone found out that Live 2005 was playable so I had a bunch of challengers..

I would have to say that you are right about the player models not being addressed, because they look the same as last year... But it is definately not last years game you are playing...

I never really paid much attention to the sliding in Live 2004, so I can't really comment on the sliding in 2005..

One thing I noticed about the Raptors was that Vince carter had on the T-Mac Leg warmer thing and It was yellow, and he had on a yellow headband??? WTF is that??

Also it seems as if they got the double team problem right this year... the computer seems to only double team when they need to, or its a mismatch..

do you lock into different animations like last year? for example, on defense you almost automatically lock into a double team animation and can't get out. Or you are double teamed and can't get out of the animation smoothly.
