I think it's time for EA and the Live crew to consider overhauling their game engine.
I believe we will continue seeing these bad animations and legacy issues until they realize they need to do away with this outdated engine. The game will never be able to reach it's full potential until they do this IMO. Hopefully devs from EA see this thread and mention it to the people who are managing this game. What do you guys thinks?Tags: None -

Like others have said, we will see what we're in store for starting tomorrow...
The videos that surfaced yesterday were rough for me with the poor inside play and A.I in certain foods situations....but I'm just waiting to experience the game first hand before I make and judgement...

I would agree, after i heard LIVE was gonna have 8000 new animations i believed the stiffness and janky movements wouldn't be as noticeable this year.Well, this is noticeable, and this is the retail version not the demo which is usually a different build right? I dont see much change happening. They also need to fix some AI issues i saw some WTF moments watching the OKC vs Rockets livestream yesterday.Comment

Until they give Users the options to Edit the game you wont really know. It could be as simple as some tweaks to Ratings and Tendencies that could take care of what you are seeing. Look how many issues get fixed by Edits in NBA 2k Series.
As others have said, we will have to see what the DEMO holds this year before digging deep into this Conversation.NBA 2k18 Roster:

I think the game engine is perfectly fine. They need to overhaul "the animations". Replace the bad ones, get rid of alot. And just go all out improving every single animation.Twitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

I've been saying that for the longest. They need to cleanup some old animations and just go full out with new ones. I'm talking about thousands of new animations. The new animations need to be seamless and smooth. Also, they can polish some of the old ones because I know they can't scrap everything.Comment

Re: I think it's time for EA and the Live crew to consider overhauling their game eng
We are too late in the game for that. There are some animations that look great but like NoTice_0 has said lets do a overhaul and get rid of those animations that just don't work anymore. Get some guys in there and mocap from dusk till dawn lol.Comment

Re: I think it's time for EA and the Live crew to consider overhauling their game eng
What's bigger than HOW the animation look IMO...is how they transition into one another...this stuff actually effects game play
I can deal with rough animations in the interim if we can get that ironed out....if that's not possible within this engine something definitely needs to be rewritten...Comment

Re: I think it's time for EA and the Live crew to consider overhauling their game eng
How animations transition is just as important as the fluidity of the animation itself. Adding a bunch of animations to a broken engine results in Madden, which for as beautiful as it looks now in shots still looks twitchy, jumpy and distinctly like a video game in motion. I think the argument about animations is dead though...the Live team has decided to make their game less animation heavy than 2K for what they (and fans of Live) believe is a more responsive game. It really boils down to what your preferences are.Comment

this game is dead.
every single second some b.s. is happening on court
and its all the transitions like you said.
its like the game is 15 frames per second or something, idkComment

Re: I think it's time for EA and the Live crew to consider overhauling their game...
Having watched three or four CPU vs CPU NBA games last night and the rising star/pro-am yes that is what I'm basing it off. If that is insufficient enough for you then we can agree to disagree. The animations aren't polished that's not hard for me to see, the passes looked far too floaty and the contact didn't look as seamless as I was expecting from the physics. Maybe I'm expecting too much, tell me good sir will the demo not look anything like the hour or so gameplay i watched yesterday?Comment
