I'm loving Pro-AM. If they can finally fix their online lag issues and tune paint defense, it will be perfect.

Just wanted to say that this is an absolutely incredible demo in terms of what it gives you. I will play it a lot.
Unfortunately for me, as a user v cou player, the cpu late game AI bug will prevent me from buying the full game barring a miracle that fixes that three year old issue It is is the ultimate game killer.
But I do appreciate the depth of this demo. No one who buys the game should complain post purchse as it is very clear what you will be getting..Comment

Re: NBA Live 16 Demo Available For Xbox One and PS4, Post Your Impressions
I enjoyed the pro-am for the most part, the EA servers are so much better than whatever trash 2k is hosting their games on, a night and day difference. There were a few games where the lag was nearly as bad as 2ks but most of them were pretty lag free and didn't notice much input lag.
If they could just fix the ball hoggers it would be a truly great experience. I wish I could just play with CPU and gain SP that way instead of having to suffer playing with twats who continuously take and miss contested shots or the other kind of bums that iso and score easily but never pass.
Oh and what's up with the game rarely rewarding pro-am points for playing good defense or setting good screens that lead to a bucket and other "good" teammate actions?Last edited by Maligx; 09-16-2015, 11:05 PM. Reason: Ok apparently you can play with just cpu in summer ciruitComment

Re: NBA Live 16 Demo Available For Xbox One and PS4, Post Your Impressions
Played a few games of the OKC/CLE game while waiting for that terrible download and got into a couple games after that finally finished up.
Right off the bat I said it watching the videos and seeing it on my screen I say it again, it's a breath of fresh air seeing the activity on the court this time around as opposed to the standing around that was happening last year. Guys are setting screens, trying to get open, it's night and day from 15.
I didn't mess around with the sliders yet, so I'm playing defaults on everything for the time being. Shooting is a thousand times better for me than last year as I don't feel like it's a near pointless grind trying to score this year like last year felt. Helps the ego that Van Gundy isn't ripping me and the other team for how brutal our scoring is going either lol.
Love the arenas and atmosphere in the game. That was good last year though, so this is just a continuation of that. The play calling feature is great, think that's well done once you get the hang of doing it.
I've had fun playing the game and have had some competitive games in my time with it. Of course there is a lot of bad in here as well despite what the game does right.
The animations are still not good. It doesn't FEEL like footplanting is in the game. Guys seem like they just move around the court at lightning speed and the warping and forcefielding is still there. There's still a delay in certain movements like jumping to contest a shot or going for a rebound.
I was playing a game against the Clippers and ran into this little sequence.
Spoiler<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qLTcJqZsjjc" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>
I was Aaron Brooks at the time in this, I was anticipating Griffin going to the paint so I went to contest before he even went into a gather and yet he didn't even attempt to jump until after he'd already dunked the thing pretty much. Stuff like this has to get fixed.
Then there's this next glitch. This one was just down right bad and a deal breaker for sure if it's not included in this day 1 patch. It's only happened once, so maybe it'll be cool, but once is one time too many IMO for something like this one.

Honestly have no idea how you let that one slip in there.
Overall, had some frustrating fun with the game so far. It's still not worth 60 dollars and I'll more than likely be picking this one up for cheap again this year as an alternate bball game. I'm disappointed because we've reached the third year of yet another 3 year plan and we're still not where we're supposed to be for that third year.Comment

Controls feel sluggish and also seems like there's lag when you press a button to steal, rebound, etc. The paint defense is nonexistent basically 75% of the time in my experience with the demo. The teleporting layups and dunks are saddening. When you want to go for a simple layup it makes you do a harder shot than you originally wanted to take. I wanna like this game because Pro Am is a really fun concept but its like the game mechanics are just not good."here's a jewel, love your enemies and hate your friends, enemies remain the same, friends always change." -50 CentComment

If I was ea I would just release the pro am mode on arcade and just try to compete for that That mode has been fun.
Game is stiff and has weird animationsLast edited by BOSsTOwN; 09-17-2015, 12:28 AM."This game, and series, has nothing but contempt for you (now)"Comment

Playing more Tip Off now / 12 minute quarters and man, I'm not exaggerating when I say this is some of the worst defense I've seen in a while....I'm playing on superstar like I have the last 2 years and it's just gotten crazy...
Dudes are taking off from the top of the free throw circle with euros and scoring in the lane.....
I try to wait a week before I touch any sliders but I may have to do that a bit early because this is crazy....

found it's pretty easy to stop that animation lay up or dunk that triggers from the free throw line. You just have to be playing with your bigs that can block shots. That stuff will get swatted away most of the time unless they change the shot in mid air.
I actually like online play better then 2K's version so much more fun. Offline isn't bad either but don't have enough post moves for my liking. Will be getting both games for the first time.Last edited by apollooff320; 09-17-2015, 01:20 AM.Comment

I couldn't take a quarter of it. Adjusted sliders mid game and it made a big difference. Will still have unstoppable stuff but the physicality of the paint was increased big time.Comment

First off I am not an expert on NBA basketball. So, hard core sim folks are gonna maybe dislike something I do not notice.
The demo is really fun and I likethe game. The shooting is way cooler than last year in how it works. Some say it is too easy but maybe there is a dificulty or slider that can tone it down if that bugs you.
The camera angle to me (one the demo just uses by default) is awesome. I actually really like it.
My favorite part is all the off ball movement and screens. It seems slightly more relistic in that I can hit jumpers and do not have to always score at the basket. I also like that you can not just force your way inside and always make it. Missed contested shots at the hoop are way improved from 15.
To me it looks and sounds great. Commentary gets old but that happens in all sports games for me. The other sounds are good enough, I can turn commentary low and have it just there as background or off and just listen to the arena sounds and stuff. (I assume in the retail we can tune audio like in all other EA Sports games).
All and all my favorite basketball video game to date. It just is fun to play, which for me is why I buy games.
I do not have PSN subscription so can not comment on playing online.Comment

Interior defense is a joke. You can have the whole team in there trying to stop the ball and the offensive player will just push them out of the way and put up the most F'd up looking, high arcing layup and it will go in nothing but net or you will get dunked on.
Again, rebounding is bad. The animations are slow, unresponsive, and ugly. Yeah, ratings should play a factor but, if you're standing right there all by yourself and you time your rebounding attempt right you should get the ball, not look like Derpy McDerperson and miss and watch it bounce ever so slowly into the opponents hands.
Passing is a nope. They float far too often which makes them easily stolen.
Steals are another thing. I hardly ever see any on ball steals, like 2 in 20+ games. They always come from taking floaty pass. Unless you have a moderately low steal rating, then you look like Derpy McDerperson as your player reacts to your button press 5 seconds too late. The steal animations are bad as well, even good defenders look like a fish outta water flailing about on steal attempts.
Shot contest. In Pro-Am you get a shot contest directive, I contest every shot that comes at me and none register. I've blocked a shot and it didn't count. WTF counts as a shot contest?
Player movement is slow, clunky, unresponsive and forced. The game will take over and force your guy to run into a screen or post up.
I'm gonna keep playing the demo because I have nothing else better to do but, this game will be a no buy, AT ALL. Not $5, $10, $20 and definitely not $60. I'd have a hard time playing this even if it was given to me for free.Comment

It may sound trivial but I absolutely love that you can turn off every single icon /overlay whatever you want to call them. I really like my video games to mimic a real broadcast so I appreciate the ability to not have a big flashing circle under my guy. The only other game I believe that let's you do that is NHL. I wish so much that the show, nba2k and Madden would allow it as an option.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush
