Ball Hogging is penalized. -6 points for each missed shot if the user is detected to be Hogging.

Also, I believe there are some teammate grade fixes coming in the day 1 patch. Remember, its still just the demo

Passing the ball is all I do, I like getting those assist points and we seem to win when people finally catch on to PASS MORE. But most don't of course.


The mode has potential, although like someoen said above, impossible to play defense. There is little lag and the responsiveness is average at best.

Lol, I was thinking about making this thread myself.

The ball hogging is unbearable at times, but every now and then you'll find a squad that shares the basketball and it's a thing of beauty.

It's just too bad that ball hogging isn't penalized in this game.

I had to take a break from playing because I went like 5 games in a row where I only attempted about three field goals (total), smh.

Well it kinda is penalized. If you don't play team ball, your teammate grade won't rise much out of the 50s which limits the amount of SP you get, making it take longer to improve. My solution for ball hoggers was making a C. If they don't pass, I just focus on rebounds and putbacks. All the while, my teammate grade keeps going up for doing the dirty work.

Yes. You select play with friends once you choose the Summer Circuit. Then don't invite anyone, don't open it up to the public, and press start to launch the game with CPU teammates. Once in game use A to pass when a CPU teammate has the ball to you, or X for them to shoot a pass given from you.

Thanks for this information. I couldn't figure out how to get the CPU to shoot wide open 3's. I'd beat my defender and help would come so I'd pass to the open man in the corner. He'd just stand there until I came back to the ball and reset the play.

I couldn't figure it out. I even had a play where I stripped the ball and must have hit X one extra time and the CPU chucked a full court shot. I was like, "You'll shoot from the other end but pass up an open look in the corner?".

Yea the ball hogging is ridiculous. Some idiots just don't know how to move without the ball and don't pass the rock around. It's like I pass the ball to a guy and he takes a fully contested shot. I've gone entire games without touching the ball. It's pretty dumb

I've tried the demo on both my Xbox one and Ps4. Ps4 by far has better teammates so far. Played a game earlier where everyone touched the ball at least once before we put a shot up.

There should definitely be rewards for playing good D.

when you play with all CPU player you do get a negative grade for being a ball hog.

Pretty much every single game I've lost has been due to ballhogs who race around the arc jacking up 3-pointers like they never heard of a 'midrange' jumper, or their 'pass' button was broken.

The worst part is when these same ballhogs constantly get beat on defense.

I've had guys on my team score 10-13 points... meanwhile their assignment is killing us, by scoring 15-18 ppg, at the other end of the court.

So I'm like: 'we could have won that game if you either passed the ball more often, or set a few more screens for other players... or just played better defense on your own man.' -_-

Yea I definitely like playing with the CPU but every now and then I'll get a online user that doesn't ball hog and we work together along with the CPU and win. I like this mode tho and the feel of it.

Doesn't look like theres any penalty for spamming the pass button, and calling for bad passes like on 2K smh...

The ball hoggers take great advantage of this when playing with a cpu player on the team.

A cpu player could get an off reb directly under the basket, and all he would need to do is go straight up to score, but suddenly the ball hogger spams the pass button and jacks up a contested jumper... smh

Speaking of ball-hogging....

I just played a game with 4 humans + 1 (CPU) player on my team - Ray Allen.

So 2 of my teammates proceeded to jack up multiple 3-pointers (every time they touched the ball).... with Ray Allen standing 'wide open' in the corners.

Jeeezus. (*facepalm*)

When you have Ray Allen on your team... but set zero screens for him.. nor pass him the ball... then 'demand a pass' whenever he touches it... and proceed to chuck up 3-pointers with a just 77-78 Rating.... as if you were BETTER than an NBA HOF'er...... there's only one inevitable outcome:

A LOSS.

you do get penalized for asking for a bad pass and shooting contested jumpers...the bad passing penalty doesn't happen all the time it's so spotty. I'm getting pissed since my center doesn't get points for scoring. Also my stats are off. Says I shot 3pters and even made some and it's not even true. Never even shot a 3pt. Also my block numbers are off too. probably some other numbers too.

Got home tonight from work excited to play. Game one had to listen to some little kid telling all his teammates how we all suck and never pass the ball and then watched him launch every bad shot in the book. Then game two thru six I witnessed an impressive ballhogging clinic featuring moron and idiot boy. finally the last game I didn't touch the ball once on the offensive side of the ball as one tall guy who got every rebound hogged it so bad it was literally the scene out of the movie semi pro where the whole team chased coffee black around while all his teammates stood there watching. Only difference is coffee black made his shot where as this dbag couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat. The best was the "making it rain" he said every shot . Ya I might not comeback to this virtual court.
