It's been said before but I think it needs to be said again:

The fact that this type of thing can be done in the other game doesn't excuse it. Period.

Sorry bro but this is very easy to do against a user as well in NBA Live. I'm not going to refer to 2K because I played more NBA Live last year. This game has the exact same PiP issues as last year and the year before. Feedback has been given OVER and OVER. A user can literally run into the paint and shoot and most of the time it goes in. Last year we waited for a patch, in which a dev came in this forum and said "yea we plan to drop it soon, just running more test" patch never came... I even asked this same question on the Q&A ...

To have this Demo (yes I said demo) drop with this exact same issues is disheartening to me. I wont count 14 but to have these glaring defensive issues/lack of contact from 15 translate over to 16 isn't a good sign. Sliders will probably work for offline players but us online players are screwed. Again I'm waiting for this miracle patch like everyone else (to determine my purchase) but I have a feeling its going to be all PiP like 14 and 15. This is coming from a guy who enjoyed Live 15 for about 2 months online before it was ruined with Sideline Force-field cheese and ridiculous PiP scoring from everyone.

I play both games, and can easily play Sim in NBA Live or 2K, sometimes I just feel like playing fast, up and down. But I do agree the majority of Live gamers are arcade players, and will ball hog with superstars to get the win!!!

I was playing Pro Am with a bunch of OS'ers when the demo dropped, we played as a team and it was a lot of fun!!!

The pick and roll coaxh coverage settings do affect how the AI responds to screens. It is not perfect but some are more affective in covering the pick and roll.

This is all I have found to get my teammates and opponenets to cover screens better. You still have to help your AI teammates a lot.

Here's a few points you completely missed from my post:

1 - Both 2K and EA Developers CAN fix an entire defensive system in a single patch.

2 - It is not impossible.

3 - Patches can include ANYTHING. Not just minor bugs.

4 - It is ONLY a question of having enough time and coders to fix anything in the game.

5 - Since neither of us 'write code' for EA.. we do not know (for a fact) HOW LONG it would take to rebuild a 'defensive system'. (Because the 'AI logic' used might only be a few hundred lines of code... or it could be several thousand lines of code... or it could even be just 20 lines of code... but we do not know for a fact which it is because we are not developers working for EA)

6 - The EA Executives (and Software Development Project Managers) make 'business decisions' on 'what gets included in ANY patch' by taking into account the 'schedule' and 'resources' available.

My argument merely pointed out that 'fixing a defensive system with a single patch' is....

              - Improbable? It depends.
              - Expensive? It depends.
              - Time Consuming? Maybe. Maybe not.
              - Impossible? Absolutely not.

So assuming that [*insert bug/or gameplay problem here*] CANNOT be fixed in a single patch is ignorant... when you do not know how much 'time & effort' it will take to do so.

What I don't get is that in live 14 and 15 the defense would switch up their pnr coverages. But anyways, to fix these exploits atleast in off line play, adjust the sliders to what mr price 33 has or whatever you think is what you like and then go to coach option and change each teams pnr coverage to over/hard hedge ...

In terms of pip cheese, they not only should tune down percentages, but add contact to all gather animations. You can have a defender riding you as you drive but once the layup animation starts they get removed from the play. And I guess it's to avoid 2 player animation but at that point you're shooting and as long as you can pass out, its fine to have. They also need two player in air shooting/ contest animations. This is the only way to stop the pip cheese imo because without them, contact doesn't register and it's taken as a layup with no defenders in sight which leads to high percentages. The only way the "shooting with contact" and "shot in traffic" ratings will affect the shot percentages is if they register the shot as having those effects. And adding contact animation in the paint is the best way to do that imo because right now they don't have them and we all see the rediculous rates they go in at

                      ^^^ Agreed. Exactly.

Here's a few other suggestions for EA developers...

                      RIM & BACKBOARD

                      - Add more shots taken off the glass. The backboard is barely used. Bank shots seem non-existent, except on layups & putbacks shot directly under the rim. Every jump shot taken is a straight-in shot. No glass. Regardless of the distance. Need more shots & misses that bounce off BOTH the rim and the backboard. Mix it up.

                      - Add more shots that 'swirl' around the rim. (I haven't seen ANY and I've been playing the demo for days now) Rim physics need improvement in this respect.

In basketball, lots of shots 'circle the drain' before going in, or just missing. Slow swirls. Fast swirls. Shots that spin around awkwardly and hang on the back part of the bucket, before swirling into the net, or falling off the side. All of this needs to be included to add more 'realism'.

                      - Bank shots. Bank shots. Bank shots. I cannot stress this enough. Need a variety of them. High off the glass. Low off the glass. Mid range jumpers. Long range jumpers. Layups. Even Hook shots need to use the backboard more frequently to make the game feel less arcade-like.

                      - Add some 'Dead shots' that do not bounce off the rim very much. It happens.

                      - Heck, make the rim itself just a smidgeon wider, to allow this stuff to happen, if need be.

                      DEFENSIVE MOVEMENT

                      - Need to add more 'defensive sliding / shuffling' to mimic real-life basketball. Players should 'bounce' slightly, when shifting weight and/or changing directions while sliding/shuffling.

                      - Hands up. Hands out sideways. Allow us the ability to move around (or shuffle) a bit with our arms up/out. Right now we can only stand still with arms up/out.

                      - Add more 'contact animations' directly under the basket.

                      - Allow us to jump TOWARD an offensive player. Not just straight up in the air.

                      - Add more 'body-up' animations on the perimeter and in the lane.

                      - Add more 'chase-down' blocks.

                      - And a few tips/blocks from BEHIND (or on the side of) players / jump shooters.

                      - Add a few more steal animations. And tip-aways. We cannot steal from behind, or smack the ball out of someone's hand when taking a sidestep toward them.

                      - Add various 'swim moves' & 'spin moves' to get around screens. Plus a few extra 'struggle moves' to fight thru a pick. And different 'collisions' for guys who run into solid screens.

                      - Players shouldn't be allowed to drive full-speed thru heavy traffic & multiple defenders in their path. If they do, it should result in more 'circus shots' that miss more often.

                      - Get rid of the 'sling-shot' effect where someone takes off like they were 'shot out of a cannon' even though you are running step-for-step with them on defense using turbo. This creates a noticeble gap between the defender and his assignment, which results in an arcade-like moment.

In basketball, you only need to beat someone by a half-step or so... to still pull off a monster dunk, or layup.

Creating 'too much space' on a drive gives the offensive player too much of an advantage over defenders who are just as quick, and makes the play feel arcade-like.

                      - Add more 'battles for position' under the boards when a shot goes up. Need to see more 'boxing out' and 'counter moves'. Plus the ball should tip/pinball off a few different players hands (up in the air) every once in awhile if they don't have high 'rebounding attributes'.

                      - Give us some über athletic 1-handed rebound animations from time to time... where the player catches & tucks the ball under his armpit (like the ones Dennis Rodman used to grab)... plus a few 2-handed 'swinging elbows' when a big man (like Kevin Love) catches a strong defensive rebound.

                      - Improve the 'reaction / response' to loose balls and rebounds. Too many times a rebound will fall near us but we cannot pick it up, even if we are the closest player to it.

                      OFFENSIVE MOVEMENT

                      - Big men who get offensive rebounds right under the boards should get 'stripped' occasionally if they bring the ball down to their waist-level before going up for a putback attempt. I haven't seen anyone really fumble the rock yet or get stripped under the basket in heavy traffic.

                      - Guards and Slashers should get 'stripped' occasionally (or fumble the ball) on their drives to the bucket. Right now they only miss the shot, but there's no real 'collision detecton' when they are allowed to drive at full-speed thru heavy traffic at times.

                      - Triple threat moves. Nuff said.

                      - Allow us to give a pump-fake (or series of fakes)...then drive hard to the bucket, or take a step back jumper. I've tried to pump fake at the 3-pt line then drive to the basket without much success, because it's a bit clunky and not smooth. (But maybe it's just me, I dunno)

                      - Add more high-post moves & step-backs, plus more low-post moves, power-dribbles, drop-steps, 2-handed slap-boards, back-downs and post-fadeaways. (Make sure some of them use the backboard and don't just go straight in)
