Especially while playing pro am. If you push up on a guy. he will do everything he can to get around you before passing it. and to make matters rougher. if by chance you can keep the guy in front of you and he's a good passer. he will still rush the rack then jump pass it to some open/semi open guy. so its very very difficult to double/paint clog without getting burned.
I've also noticed if you attempt to double to slowly on a perimeter player. he will swing the ball quickly. again making for a wide open shot.
It seems as if the AI is smarter/more aggressive.
And do not try to run up on a guy that has handles. bad news. He will keep sizing you up, in hopes you will crack under pressure and either reach like an idiot, or just slide left or right anticipating where he's going to go. if you choose wrong. good night, its over. he's already at the basket in 2 steps.
This is something to me that seems a lot more realistic than any of these hoop games in the past. This is something i use to see a bit more often back when i could edit my rosters in 2k. right before the next 2k would come out. i would download someone's good old school rosters, then start a my player/my career off of that. Because it was so many stars(boosted AI/offensive & defensive awareness/other attributes). these games would play out more realistic to nba players aggressive behavior on the court.
The one thing i've noticed about nba guys as opposed to any other players out there in real life. is that if you have a good guy at the park. he has 2 good moves he can go to. where as most people MIGHT have 1. If you lock up that 1. its pretty much pass the ball time(assuming they are not hot dogs).
NBA players are not just good because they have so many moves. they are great because you cant stop the 2 or 3 moves you already know they are going to do. a lot of that has to do with the fact they will size you up(in the post), high post, mid, on the perimeter. and have you trying to guess what they will do next. but they will keep going at you over and over again on each possession until you finally crack. thats the difference between a regular joe athletic guy guarding a nba player vs say K.lenard from the spurs guarding a nba player. he wont crack.
I actually like this about live and i assume 2k will have something similar since it seems a lot of gaming companies are starting to utilize more of these next gen consoles to make the AI smarter.
