It may result in a floater near the paint or awkward shot attempt and, not the pump fake you desire.

Example: IRL, If you are sprinting/running, it becomes extremely hard/impossible to pump fake and keep the pivot foot in place (imagine trying a pump fake while moving in RL, it would most likely be a travel call against you unless you pass out of it or shoot it IRL).
Thanks. I have tried it with laying off the L Stick, but perhaps I am still inadvertently giving slight movement since I'm not completely moving my thumb away from the stick. I'll try to pay more attention to that and see if it helps.

That said, if that is the case (slight movements triggering shots rather than fakes), then I think the sensitivity may need to be tuned a bit. Using your real-world example, I fully agree that running/sprinting and trying to fake is near impossible. However, I can catch the ball in transition, quick pump, and then dribble forward, pass out, or gather and shoot with little issue (and I'm...uhh...we'll say "less than athletic" nowadays...lol).

In other words, slight or brief movement should not be an issue, which is where some of my bad releases on attempted fakes feel like they're coming from. Not a huge deal, mind you (especially if that is all it really is), but it would improve the fluidity of offense IMO if the window to do that is opened up a bit. We'll see though. It may simply be a matter of getting a feel for the momentum differences between games...still figuring things out.

Re: NBA Live 16 Available Today, Post Your Impressions Here

I can say this. As of right now, Live 17 has my money over any other basketball product. I know it's still early and a lot can change but I've found myself hating the end product of other titles. Still a few legacy issues that annoy me.

Maybe Live is the "new" kid on the block but I find their legacy issues less annoying to the end product. Live's issues tend to be with animations which only need more animations so more options are available to see on screen whereas I find gameplay issues in other sports titles to be the biggest culprit.

I really like the graphics of Live. I think they are severely underrated. Despite the lack of names under AI controlled players, I constantly know who has the ball without question. You may need more than a working knowledge of the league and its players (and what they look like on your television screen) to take advantage of this, but as a fan that watches mostly only highlights and a handful of full games during the season (wish I had more time to watch more), it's enough and Live does a good job of portraying the players.

I definitely would like to see mid-range players play more of a mid-range game (it seems that guys like Nowitzki prefer to play the blocks or the three point line when in reality Nowtizki will mostly hang around the three point line and free throw line extended) and obviously more options in the post game but this series is improving substantially.

Live 17 will be purchased on release date so consider that an extra sale come October.

I don't disagree with anything you wrote.

Isn't this quoted section exactly what Synergy is supposed to do? If Dirk is popping out for jumpers IRL, Synergy should be making him do that.

I've never bought into synergy doing that for individual players. They say it captures what a player does but I'm not sure it's that deep.

Is there a likely to take mid range jump shots rating (or something reflecting that) ? I have to check.

Played a handful of H2H, mostly against Level 8-10 guys, guess they were the only ones available....

Had some fun, didn't take it too seriously....but things were a bit....wacky, lol

The interior defense was pretty non existent....a LOT of driving in and finishing, hook shots going in with little contact. It's almost like if you don't initiate contact at the base of the jump it doesn't take your contest under consideration.

Also, my man Stevan Adams hit a contested 3 on me, lol

            https://vid.me/LGtO

When an opponent would do a long pass there were times when the camera couldn't catch up for at least a second or two.

Also, full cutscenes after a basket aren't a good idea for online head to head in a bball game, they should remove those next year...

Hopefully we can iron some of this out next year..

EDIT: being able to see highlights after the game is awesome.....don't ever get rid of that

Re: NBA Live 16 Available Today, Post Your Impressions Here

I had some fun with Live 15 but nothing like this year, meaning way more fun this year.

Got my youngest kids face in the game for his pro and it looks amazing.

Been playing LUT and while there are rebounding issues, as in way too many cpu offensive rebounds, I still am having fun there too. It's down to your interior players not
              A) jumping
              B) boxing out

It makes no sense. I can do it with the one player I control but there are at least two others down on the blocks who need to help me.

I got Worthy out of a pack today and it was great to come down and say what? You arent going to cover worthy cpu? Splash...that made up for the non-existent rebounding help.

Playing the moments and rewind games is always entertaining. I hope EA keep adding those.

I really like how responsive your controller input is. My kid and I have been saying "did you just see that?" Or "that was cool" over and over.

I showed him how to hand off and also fake it and keep it if the defender hedges. He got a wraparound 3 one time and the next try when the cpu slid over he kept it and knifed down the lane for a sweet contested lay in that dropped and 1.

I just wish my off ball cpu controlled players on my team contested shots like the cpu does.

Just getting into the playcalling system, for the most part it's great, I just don't understand wait, maybe I do, I just don't understand why the black circle turns off when I run to it sometimes.
I say maybe I do because maybe it does not know what to do when you try to run a play with a SG?

Hmm. Time to jump into scrimmage mode...

Ha, so I post this last night and then play 2 LUT games where my cpu players just flat out refuse to jump for rebounds at all. It's like they saw what I wrote and were protesting.

Then to just make it even more bizarre I jump into the Bucks Knicks rewind game. I rewind it back to when the Knicks are up 27-23 in 2nd and began play.

I was having a blast because Carmelo was scoring like a fiend and Calderon was slicing me up with attack and dish moves. I was hanging in with the bucks and found a wide open Vasquez for a 3 to get within 1, this was sometime around the middle of the 3rd. Knicks then came down the floor and I jumped the lane on a Calderon pass over to Melo, Calderon came over to "save" his mistake which left my PG free to fly down court, I hit him with the pass and was getting ready to throw it down to go up by 1 and the CPU rage quit.

Screen went blue and I got an NBA live has crashed PS4 report.

I then booted up NBA again to make sure it still worked and then shut off my PS4 for the night. That is only the 2nd time a game has crashed on me on PS4. Terrible timing.

I got this game on Xbox Live Gold last month for $16. Decent game for that much.

I enjoy this game, I enjoy playing online.

The only real gripe I have with playing online is the fact that people can rage quit, get away with it, and I won't get my win that I should be getting.

The talk of the non-existent interior defense is so true. Especially when you have a guy driving into the middle with nobody rotating back to protect the rim.

Yes. If you look at their individual tendencies they will even tell if the guy is right or left hand dominant, or whether they prefer pull ups, post ups or driving. VERY useful information (when properly examined and used) when trying to stop the CPU from executing successfully against you.

Combine that information with specific coaching tweaks, and the defense should not be the big issue some are reporting in that mode. I have experienced fantastic defensive sequences between me and the CPU(archived streams), except for team specific roster deficiencies. I can't speak on the other modes specifically as I have tested mostly within dynasty, where the synergy updates don't affect me.

This is just one of the "little things" I think people miss when relating specific defensive/offensive issues, especially not being able to shoot/defend to their liking, and that's not saying that some issues don't exist. I'm certainly not the best "stick-baller" here, so I have to pay attention to any and all of the game's context clues, to make sure I execute properly. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't

This game's "pick-up-and-play" appeal is trending, and can lead to much deeper individual game play and understanding with patience, practice and observation, along with constructive forum feedback to continuously improve the game.

On observed rebounding issues: Personally I'm not seeing the offensive rebounding issues as extremely many are seeing. I'm going to chalk that up to the combination of team, mode, and slider set I'm using. The 76ers bigs (I play without Embiid) can rebound relentlessly, so this next advice may not be in context to some.

If you use LT+X(square on PS4) during a rebound sequence, if your player is positioned properly he will attempt to grab the board and immediately attempt a quick put back (which may miss or be blocked). I have found that THIS is the easiest way to get the O board for my chosen team, and often results in several consecutive put back attempts, (such as you see on TV) with misses/makes/fouls included. You will see the jostling and fighting for rebounding position play out ferociously at times. You can also pass/dribble out of the animation after gathering the rebound, to restart the play. I don't know if this is true in Pro-Am, as I don't play there for already stated reasons

The game also includes in its broadcast, several hints about game play, disguised within the broadcast, that may go unnoticed as rhetoric, but can definitely be used to help make necessary in game adjustments, from calling a time out to end a run, or to giving the ball to a hot player, or questioning a gameplay decision to shoot with a particular player. The broadcaster will let you know and question your failures. Those that did not know, listen carefully for the "tips".

Minus a few well documented bugs, overall it appears that the AI is quickly becoming very appealing to some of those coming back to the game after their hiatus, and I personally think it will be a strong point for those already in the know for '17.

Since I have been using it, I would also like to endorse LilD20's posted slider set (I use human only) for dynasty play. I have been using the human sliders(leaving all CPU at 50). The difference has been realistic and challenging for my skill level. With all sliders set on default 50, (human and CPU) I took the 76ers to the playoffs as a 4 seed (82 games played) but I wanted to restart as it felt too easy to be realistic. After the HUMAN slider adjustment (with small personal tweaks), I am now struggling through a 10-19 season on the ALL STAR setting, and couldn't be happier with the game, as this team plays similar to the real 76ers.

I feel that game is definitely SIM...and also, that this game is ARCADE, but I also know that is determined by us, every game, based on how we play. Regardless, I think the game is FUN, challenging, and responsive, and it will remain in my 5 most played for now, and maybe until next release.

Yeah my cpu players being passive instead of jumping or boxing out is in LUT.

Animations like this have got to go...

The amount of transitional animations they're missing within jump shots, passing and overall movement better make a big leap for me to consider Live '17 as a game I buy for $60. The game has an ugly factor to it when you have two people playing against each other and movements aren't so scripted like they are when playing the computer. We're approaching year 4 and things like this can't be excused for the sake of wanting to play something different. To boil it down, Live does a poor job of making these guys look like NBA athletes in all facets of their animations besides ones where plays are being called.

Two things I'll give them is fun factor and playcalling. I've actually enjoyed running plays for the first time in a long time due to how well its been implemented. I don't feel like its taking a whole shot clock to run an offense.

More as I play but these are the sticking points I've seen so far.

                              That animation is ok if:

                              A) it happens once every 300 games

                              B) the player shooting it gets a close up where they shrug and look sheepish or coyly act like it happens all the time

B might be happening but the only one doing it is possibly the player waiting to come in who seems to bury his head in disbelief.
