And this leads to it being poorly supported, yet again...as no company can justify continual support once a game fails to make money.

That leaves those of us who bought it frustrated, yet again.

2K's sales figures are stunning...4 million in the first week. That is why they can have devs all over the web, patches uploaded, constant improvements.

I do not know what the future is for LIVE. Personally, I have bought them all and 16 is probably the most dissapointing for me as I genuinely thought the third year on next gen would be the breakthrough year.

But really, it is not much more than 15 with a great patch. And some areas, like post play, are actually worse.

Dynasty, season mode, post play, defense, no editing, we are going to be stuck with outdated rosters yet again with no way to edit trades etc when they happen...it is just really disappointing.

Great post Walt!! Pretty much sums up this game. Not a bad game at all but it's not even close to what I assumed it would be after 3 years. I'm done with the title but I do continue to check in and see if any major changes have taken place to improve the game.

      Summed it up perfectly Walt....

I think my mentality would be a lot different if I hadn't been on board since Live '14,

I made feedback videos, mixes for that game as rough as it was....trying to be a part of the rebuilding community...but it feels like its been one sided. While I recognize the effort put into '16 its kind of reached that exhaustion point for me.

We will see what happens throughout this year though...just a bit hard to be optimistic sometimes..

It has been this way for some time man, I feel your pain.

I just don't understand. It has to be a resource issue, no? Maybe WTF can shed some light, but I find it so unfathomable that a company with a market share like EA, would refuse to put the proper resources in a franchise that really helped propel their brand to where they are today.

I mean, did they really choose to put a team in place that is this one track minded? That doesn't understand the basic fundamentals of basketball? How do you have an NBA game in 2015 that doesn't have bank shots?

        Puzzling to me.

It really is and for me, the main reason it the up and down direction the game can take through the years.

Obviously you can use Live 10 as an example, the absolute pinnacle in the franchise and suddenly it leads to near extinction.

But even now, where 95% of gamers called 14 a disaster. Yet 14 had some good features that were scrapped (as mentioned by posters in the other thread) controllable bounce and lob passes etc.

15 having great sizeups only to be removed. Much better ball physics and animations on dribble moves, where 16 is all rubber band-like.

What next, the good stuff from 16 gets removed? I mean we were pretty damn patient (and I might add LOYAL) in buying, playing and constructively criticizing 14 and 15 and now 16 but you just never know what is going on any more.

Re: Will there be a Live 17?

If EA stuck with it after Elite 11, Live 13 & 14 its not going anywhere. 15 and 16 are both solid games, still needs some work to catch up with 2k but i feel they are heading in the right direction. Animations need cleaned up (post game needs a big overhaul), roster editing (ratings, trades, create players), and better franchise mode are the main things im still asking for.

Not only was the game considered terrible and got awful press from the Jesus video it put them back years in the competition with 2K.

Let's face it. They are climbing a monstrous hill in battling 2K but rebooting again will just put them further behind. You said it yourself - the game is fun. Simply continue to evolve and improve what you have. The fact 2K sold 4 million this year already is actually a good thing for next year as people may want something different. I see next year as the huge year for live where they may just shut down if sales are bad.

The live team does shoot themselves in the foot with terrible design decisions like no sliders until now and no roster edits. No good reason for this. But the core gameplay is fun for me. A price cut like 2K5 used would be a smart decision. Sell the game at $40 to entice people. You need to grab market share. I don't think a reboot is a good idea.

You've obviously never worked in game industry. Making a game $20 or even $30 that has a full cycle of development isn't going to happen. Especially when they are already cutting edges just to get a product to the shelf.

All the people they have to pay and money made up for facial scans etc. And besides it's EA they aren't going lower themselves to help the masses, they don't care about the consumer, they care about money.

And the developers of this game might have the heart for the buyer, but their publisher just wants profit and this franchise has been trash for a while and they don't see it making a profit in a sense of really backing it. (So much failure has surround it over the past 6 years)

The whole franchise has lost it's edge and interest in the public eye of perception.

And people always mentioning on the right track with Live 10, well here is the reality they will never get back there, completely different development team that once included Mike Wang a guy with a vision and real knowledge of gameplay physics.

EA has had a history of changing the gameplay every damn year and controls! This is the primary reason they can't make a good game, always changing things that aren't / nor wasn't broken to begin with.

Simple physics, animations and graphics would have pushed them a better game. Yet the same robotic animations, stiff moving characters. Also same small body types and low detailed models. Same last gen crowds and stadiums...no matter how detailed you get them, they aren't current gen unless you zoom in.

Next year plan has finally come to a halt and people are tired of waiting, this game doesn't even get the marketing backing like Madden does, no commercials, advertising, posters, billboards, ads in magazines...Nothing.

It's not even listed on the official EA Website, they had to give it a NBA Live site, couldn't even include with the other titles. That's how much they care about the franchise, not even including it in their listings.

And they do really poor ways to presenting it to the public, keeping everyone in the dark about the gameplay until a demo is released. SMH!!!

If you are trying to win back fans and fanbase, they key would be making gameplay videos showing new moves, controls, 5 on 5 which was requested since July!!!

You show visual changes compared to old titles and game modes.

You don't hype up shoes, and Pro-Am...........They did everything in their power to hide how the game really played all the way up to the release. That is called shady marketing....hope the name sales it because we won't show a thing.

Well reality is, the name is tarnished with bad vibes and history of failures...time to try something different.

You want Live 17 to even have a chance, make it next gen....big models, big stadiums, better details, full blown animation overhaul begin with real human anatomy and real body type, waistlines, hips etc.
(Eliminate the Live 10 engine and begin with something different, stop using the same graphics and gameplay engine since 360/PS3)(Time to develop for PS4/XB1)

And for crying out loud, hire someone that knows basic fundamentals of basketball and NBA Basketball...not the Live hype team....got to get your name back on the map offline first, online will get it owns work done..

For guys that are confused as to why EAsports isn't giving Live the proper love or proper tools to compete with the competition, I ask you this why are you surprised??? This company is not about competition in fact they hate to have competition. EA's issue is they cant buy an exclusive license with the NBA to totally destroy the competition like they did with NFL2k, or do a buyout like they did for College Hoops.

Madden is the football equivalent of Live, IMO if 2k had a football game for all these years Madden would be in the same position as Live right now but since its the only option you have to either buy it or go without.

I always hear that EAsports games are "fun" but give you no sim style of gameplay and that's very true, EA wants us to play their style of gameplay so I feel you either have to adapt or just move on but seeing the same pattern from this company over and over but still expecting something different just makes us look crazy.

For the record they never had an exclusive license to College Basketball..

Take-Two refused to renew the license due to poor sales of College game....

The fact that this is the most popular thread in the Live forums is just sad.

They do need to make bigger improvements during each year though and need to improve dynasty mode and rising star, also we need customization either through a patch this year or by next year either way it's unacceptable that it's not even in the game for 3 games straight.

That along with the 'most important feature in 17' poll where a total of 54 people voted.

Yeah I look on the amount of people online for the Pro-AM and Live Run and it would only be at like 300 the most on PS4. I never such a low number for a newly released game. At this point they should know what to put in the next game to make it better since most of us have been shouting the same things since Live 14. They need to bigger leaps now and can't just take a tiny step towards being a great game. I do like the look of it and think these graphics plus great animations would really be something to marvel at all day while playing.

I'm sorry but Live downfall is funny to me. And even more funny are the ones that think live had a chance. EA when it comes to sports in my opinion is they just don't want to break the bank more than just a license. EA sports does the bare minimum with all its sports games

                            I see it now

Developer: I figured out a way to fix our gameplay. I just need a team to develop it with me

EA exec: why can't u do by yourself?

Dev: because it would take a console gen by myself

EA: well unless they are doing it for free. That would be a big no. Just give us what u got and we will let the marketing team handle that

                            Dev:

Ea has battlefront, battlefield, Pga tour, Fifa, nhl, Madden, etc. they can take hits harder than anyone and still make Live and put effort. There's too much potential for them to give up. Keep up. I'll be there.

I've accepted the work in progress and I'm pleased with their efforts. I think they should have started the 39.99 price point though. Worked for 2k in football. Member?

The fact that there isn't even an official patch thread and the day one patch still isn't fully released. No patch notes.... there are no excuses for this. When great quality members like 24th have little to no hope, you know hope is lost. If you poll everyone who was around during Live 14 like me, I bet 70% skipped out on buying Live 16. It seems obvious that their entire fan base is gone. 2k has over 40 pages of threads when a patch drops. We have 4. Very few complaint threads.

It's obvious they can't catch up. Not with their current team. They need to hire waaay more staff, cut the price to $40, and massively support their game. The price drop will justify the game being inferior and the support will help bring hope back. More staff to help them catch up.

I don't see any of those things happening. .. maybe give mvp baseball a go? At least there isn't a baseball game on xbox
