Let's say you're the new Creative Director of Live...

You have until October 4th, 2016 (my estimated Live 17 release date) to make a game that will bring LIVE "back."

Keep in mind that you have a little less than a year, so firing and hiring new people won't happen, releasing NBA Street 17 or whatever won't happen.

What are the 3 things you tackle in the current game to "fix" it?

Game play - way more sldiers, tendencies, ratings. Ingame injuries. Complete tean playbooks specific to the real life teams.

AI - complete overhaul of AI.

MoCap animations - complete overhaul of that.

All that can be done in less then a year, other sports games have done so.

1- No NEW Modes. Get Dynasty Mode up and Functional for Long Term playing. Including Draft Classes

2- Editing Options for improved Gameplay for USERS. Ratings/Tendencies/Coaching Profiles and Settings

3- Bring in some guys from the Gaming Community who will give TRUE feedback. Not this is the "Greatest Game Ever" Guys or Youtube Guys who are there to "drive up their Subscribers", to break down how the game plays and Test and make tweaks to test what the Game Engine can do. Bringing in guys to Just Play doesnt help. You need to let guys dig into the game.

        Gameplay
Animations, a lot needs to be removed and a lot can be improved upon. A lot more sig jump shot if not sig, add a shot base or a release point like 2k, dunks needs a lot more dunks see the same ones too much time, customizations fully featured. That could be a game changer if added in this year. Players scanning, more features added to dynasty and rising star. I wouldn't go crazy with game features cause I only really use 2 r 3 in the other game which is play now, editing roster and myplayer.

So with all that said, main focus would be gameplay and customization.

Let's say you're the new Creative Director of Live...

          1. MUCH more Depth in all modes. How is it that in 3 years they haven't really flushed out even 1 mode? Even proam isn't that deep. Also would as add some new features like Allstar weekend, Classic teams, maybe even fiba.

          2. Gameplay. There are two things i would add, deeper controls and player/ team individuality.

-I would add a control option for as many basketball moves as possible, If I want to choose what hand I finish with or to throw a bounce pas instead of chest pass I should be able to, or if I want a 20 second time out instead of a full.

-For player individuality, I'd add way more options for signature animations(There are 6 categories right now and one is celebrations.) I would add Categories for individual dribble moves like behind the back or in and out, post fadeaway/jump hook, and off the dribble shots, in addition to others. More categories are, however, useless if they aren't deep, for example, there are only 8 signature free throws to choose from, which kills immersion when most players have the same animation. So in addition to more animation categories to choose from, I'd add much more variety of that them aswell(at least 150 sig jumpers or 10-15 hesitation animations for example). I'd also add more tendencies and ratings to separate players.
          - For team individuality, I'd add team specific live motion offenses, more coach options( Hack a deandre, separate pnr coverage by side pnr and middle pnr, soft/ hard doubles ect), and more dynamism to the ai. If one thing isn't working they should understand to change things up whether it's their pick and roll coverage or who they are isolating.

3.CUSTOMIZATION. We've beaten the hell out of this drum. Full Player/ roster customization. Local and global saves. Create a draft class/ player. Editing in modes like dynasty aswell.

I'm not a dev and don't know if that could be done in a year, but I do know that until every part of the game is much deeper they will fail socially and economically

Are we going to have 10 of the exact same thread only with different topics every time?

Live is back already. It's solid enough, looks stunning and like every game has a lot to improve on.

Yet if the sale figures are correct, it currently has a 0.002% market share.

You simply can't fix that in one year. The game is much better than the sale suggest and I'd blame the marketing team or the person in charge of allocating said marketing funds. While at the same time applaud the marketing of the other game for hyping up and selling laughable features and a game that has it's own long list of flaws.

Let's say you're the new Creative Director of Live...

This forum is currently the largest Live forum on the web...if we need to make this thread 10x times before the year is over I'm good if it leads to some community interaction.

Anyway, as new creative director- I'll keep it short and sweet as most of it has been mentioned:

First I'm making a decision: are we looking to be a a basketball simulation? If so:

-I'm ditching Synergy and adding individual tendencies....also adding complete customization for rosters and players

-Gameplay- Completely rewriting the inside game. The 'physics' engine in place isn't working as is.

                - Animations and signature style. This game has a long standing problems with players/teams not feeling like themselves....individuality keeps the game fresh and inviting...as does signature style. We are mo capping our *** off...

It is not just the marketing team. The lead developer has basically disappeared since release...not a single social media tweet or comment. When the lead dev basically wants nothing to do with the product / not to be associated with it.................gaming journalists and gaming communities pick up on that vibe and realize something is completely messed up behind the scenes. From there on you get hammered in reviews and people are reluctant to buy a game where the lead dev is avoiding everyone.

                  They need new people.

Hopefully there will at least be a roster for opening night and a patch for the start of the season with detailed notes.

After that, it is headed straight for the bargain bins and EA Vault, yet again.

(Which, in itself, is a slap in the face for those who paid for it.)

Whatever the milenials and social media types want. .

Honestly this game does things really good mixed with really bad but kids will never see it because live is not "cool" and not the other game. They just need to stick with it and now that the foundation is set go for broke in adding more resources to work on the game.

The overall quality is still below live 10. This game just needs more of everything but in the meantime until the gameplay is on par I'm ok with them neglecting offline modes that clearly the other game is superior at.

                    If I must choose.
Gameplay-everything from live 10 bring back.
                    Pro Am
                    Online h2h

Or just rerelease live 10 with updated rosters and servers while taking two years to focus on a Live 18 release.

After that Mike Wang fiasco. Why would anyone want this job.

Scott O'G came uo with great ideas to expand defensive settings...force baseline, ACE etc. a whole host of ideas...when he was the lead dev for LIVE.

He is now implementing all those ideas for 2K16.

Seems like whoever comes uo with SIM based ideas, like Beluba and Scott, are gone pretty soon afterwards.

Complete animations overhaul. No old animations would be used. Scrap synergy, complete editing for everything in the game, improved on court player detail to reflect the detail during cut scenes, hire a community person to update ratings and accessories when needed, completely overhaul cpu ai intelligence.

Focus on the Pro Am. Maybe release NBA Street as a Digital only game. I truly feel they can't make a great SIM game. I'd focus on the fun factor and as long as Live in presented as a simulation NBA game they will always be playing catch up.

Make the game as fun as possible label it as an arcade style game and they'll see a profit. As fans we all want a good sim game but I don't think the masses will ever take them seriously again. But the Pro Am is extremely addictive. An NBA Street/Jam game with a similar online mode would be great.

EA sports has to be dangerously close to the point where the NBA license isn't profitable for them. Either they'll stop making NBA games or have to drastically change their approach. Right now for the general public when they here the name NBA Live they associate it only with a sub par sports game not worth their time.
