The ratings that do need more adjusting are the ones that you called "subjective", the athleticism categories and such. As one guy pointed out, Eddy Curry should NOT have a higher speed rating than Ben Gordon, thats just nuts. But then again, EA Sports have always had problems rating rookies.

Originally posted by DCAllAmericanThings like what, what are the formulas
OFFREB = previous season's Offensive rebounds per minute
DEFREB = previous season's Defensive rebounds per minute
PASSING = previous season's Assists per minute
STEAL = previous season's Steals per minute
BLOCK = previous season's Blocks per minute
FATIGUE = previous season's Minutes per game (not exact, but very close)
FREETHROW = previous season's free throw percentage
PRIMACY = previous season's shots per minute [(FGA + .44*FTA)/MINUTES] (not exact)
My ratings are a little bit more realistic than NBA Live's defaults because I also account for the previous year's playoffs, like I said. These changes, though, are usually by only one or two points per rating. If you try these on a player who played less than 300 minutes in the previous season and playoffs combined, these will not work.
Of course, you would also need my rating tables that convert these stats into
an actual rating. It took me a while to build them because NBA Live's ratings are not determined linearly. I dont have rating tables that convert for college stats and high school stats yet so it also wont work for rookies.
There is a disclaimer though. Using the previous year's stats to generate ratings like NBA Live does for some of them is not good for predicting how a player will perform this upcoming season. It just gives a good representation of how a player performed last season. There are no formulas that can determine how a player will perform in the 2004-2005 season until the season is over. This rating generator is, however, excellent for creating historical teams.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:
