Anybody remember when Lakers vs. Celtics came out for Genesis ?

Does anybody remember all the way back to October of 1990 when Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs came out of freaking nowhere to arrive for the Sega Genesis ?

    Anybody remember that ?

If you have any fond memories of that, or even bad memories, you should check out episode 6 of this podcast:

If you just want to skip to the Lakers vs. Celtics part, skip to the 27 minute mark

Yeah, NBA Live '95 was the TRUTH.

I loved the Shiznit out of that game. I loved the musical intro. I actually played NBA Live '95 on the Super Nintendo. One of the few sports games that I think was "slightly" better on the SNES.

I remember no doubt. The only game I was playing at the time was Altered Beast and when I saw this I purchased and played it to death. Game didn't need a patch either. Lol

So, as somebody that bought Lakers vs. Celtics right when it came out (was 19 years old at the time, yeah I'm old!), me and my buddies were in 7th heaven when that game came out, we were totally blown away by the fact that it actually had real players, and that the players "kinda" looked like the real people (pixelated versions of the real people).

However... after playing the game for about 2 weeks, we really weren't into the game anymore because the game actually has a ton of problems once you get over the graphical spendor of the game.

My single biggest problem with the game was the fact that all the players would just bunch up into a jumbled mess. A total cluster F if you know what I'm saying. Basically the collision detection was horrible, and the traffic jams in the paint would basically render the game unplayable to a degree.

The other huge problem with it was the fact that if you got your offensive player into the paint and just barely tapped the shoot button, the player would do an "automatic" move, like a layup or dunk or whatever, and it was pretty much impossible to defend.

If you listen to the podcast, I cover all the good things about the game, but also cover all the crappy things. The game was definitely amazing in certain ways no question, but overall, I kinda look back on it as a crappy game. I didn't really get into any of the games in this series until it became NBA Live.
