State of this game 2 month later?

so as most regulars on this board knows, a month ago i made a topic showing that in 1 month of the game being out we made little to no progress.

    http://www.operationsports.com/forum...nth-later.html

but how things have changed now that we have gotten a update. or have they? here is this game 2 months later.

    - H2H is STILL BROKEN.

Come on son...... its like the patch missed this whole freaking mode. still no subs, still no fatigue and kyrie is still the startng PG of the Cavs <_<
this game plays as if little to no skill is required at times.

    - Paint Defense is there But we still need more work.

while these new contest animations are a god send and when they work they really change games for the better we need more. but its good to see what we can stop people (at times ) who know nothing about skill.

I DO THINK THAT DUNKS NEED TO BE TWEAKED but ehhh. the difference between a layup pg. and a Dunking Pg is extremely game changing lol

    - Shooting Tweaks is a bit confusing

While again, thanks for making changes. i feel as if some of these changes werent tested enough. (this topic will get a poll right after i post this)

the mid range shots boost is really nice as now we can add a new element to our game, but i feel that either im a really bad defender. or the game allow too many of these to go in while contested. but i think i take it as it is now than what it has been in the past and games before.

the 3pt nerf is the confusing bit. While for online play i guess this is good. i feel like they lowered the tendancy too much. and its annoying. i work to get a open shot with 90 rated shooters and im over here building houses. from beyond the arch. people telling me its not the game its me, but idk if that homerism kicking in or what. this vs the CPU is really annoying but lets see what comes from it.

what i feel is missing (or can be imroved) is the contest system on the perimeter. does this game have the old system of OPEN,GUARDED, AND CONTESTED SHOTS? i only see open and guarded.

the good thing about the shooting change is that the CPU on Superstar is no longer automatic from deep (although BS shots can still fall) so i guess that the silver lining lol.

    - Rising Star Freezing is still in the game.

Who wants to play a game where it hangs on a certain screen while having a WIlt like game. this glitch is definetly a game (and mood) killer.

    - Rosters seemed fixed but things still need touching up.

Stats can be considered BS still. as there are some "RED FLAGS ratings" *looks at kobe and Jimmy bulter*

and things online still havent been fixed (see the kyrie still at PG post) and little things like george hill not having his new hair in the game isnt in still but for the most part offline things seem well.

The game is definetly on the right path, but its up to EA to continue the road to greatness. i do wish they communicate with us more like how 2k does it on the 2k boards. but ehhh.

is it still worth 60? more now than last month but the choice is yours. but this game is really worth a buy,

The good thing about this game is that it's not like they've done too much and need to remove certain things. This game does a lot of things right and just needs to add more into the the game. I've been jaw dropped by this game before and just imagined what it could be of they kept adding and improving. The more I see the old animations leave and the new ones come in the more I like.

So as far as two months in, yea it's a little better, but as a legacy or series in general the game is heading in a great direction with the potential to do some really great innovative things.

Honestly, I just think the game needs a shot of personality in the arm. Even though I can acknowledge the fixes the patch has made, I'm just not drawn to even play it as an alternative, which I did most of the year with Live '15....outside of the great atmosphere, just feels generic in many areas....

Though I would like to see the Live series do well, I'm not a fan of EA or NBA Live in particular...so for me it's all about just enjoying the game they put out...can't even play some quick H2H play with the questionable design decisions they made there with no fatigue etc.

I think the cycle of dropping the game in questionable condition, no communication, waiting too long for a patch, then not getting what was needed out of that patch finally just turned me off

I think I'm suffering from the same thing. Like I'm just not interested anymore. I keep trying to play it but I get bored and just go play 2k

The biggest dissapointmen has been the sliders.

Really, they were 'the' main extra feature in 16 (as pathetic as that sounds given every sports game has them)....but two months on and all the long time slider guys have given up / no real sets developed / synergy and tuners makes sliders a complete waste.

The game has definitely improved. They added new animations and tightened up shooting. They appear to be listening even if they aren't responding as much anymore on the forums.

I'm not a Pro Am player, so I can't speak on that, but I think their 5 on 5 play has improved a lot this year. I do strongly feel that if you have "NBA" in your title, the focus should be NBA content not Pro Am or Park or whatever, and its not meant as a slight to fans of that mode.

I also think the Synergy updates may be working well enough (I've enjoyed AI variety my last 8 games), but players won't rest until EA allows them to get full editing of the game.

I think LIVE is in a good spot going forward, if they add missing modes, remain interactive with the player base, add more editing options, fix a few glitches, and add a few more needed animations, to which I could care less as long as improving the action on the court remains their primary focus at all times.

Thanks to the devs for progress and for continuing to listen (despite the sometimes harsh feedback) and support the game via updates even if they aren't responding as often in the forums.

I do think this game warrants a purchase for basketball fans looking for another option or another way to play.

You echo my sentiments here! If we pay close attention, there are continual improvements occurring mainly via the Synergy update mechanism. For example, right after patch 1.04 was installed, I noticed that although defense was bolstered, there were still holes, especially around the baseline and the post. Well, this has been tightened with recent tweaks! Also, immediately post patch, blocking and stealing were no longer as effective. Stealing directly from the cpu ball handler in particular became non existent. It's now been tuned to a more realistical ( though your timing and angle must be precise to accomplish steals) level and I'm seeing more fantastic and dynamic blocks! I've only noticed these improvements for the past couple of days and wanted to validate my observations over a longer period of time before posting. However, posts from individuals such as yourself and recent youtube videos confirm my thoughts or findings.

Again, the big shame in all this is the lack of communication with the community. The "cloak and dagger" approach has left many, even the most ardent of supporters, frustrated and befuddled, to say the least! I say this because they are really putting together a very unique and compelling game here, warts and all! Once they implement needed changes to the game next year, they must continue to build favor with the community and really invest advertising dollars to truly propel this game and give it it's deserved exposure. As some have said, there is a true "gold mine" here! I played several games yesterday and was very impressed with how the game was playing. The cpu was reacting very well on both sides of the ball and the challenge for the user was improved! The one thing I would like to see is consistency with the game. These oscillations or variances (sometimes games feels tighter, others looser) may be due to the ongoing tuning or something else, which highlights the need for EA or game changers or someone, to inform the public and give us some idea of what's occuring behind the scenes. As it stands, we will continue to experiment and speculate, and some may even question the commitment of the team and quality (or lack of) of the game and may step aside without the benefit of knowing the positives that are underway. I'm sure most of us will be more patient or lenient knowing that these differences were caused by tuning for the betterment of the game.

Having said all that, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the detailed notes that accompanied patch 1.04. It was very informative and I sure hope this trend will continue into the future.

Btw, let's try to get in some online games this year. I know we discussed last year but it never materialized. Unfortunately I have heard that the H2H games may be lacking in the defense department. This is another area I hope an upcoming patch will address!
