The scores were very similar to the travesty that is NHL 2005. I don't think I'll ever take mainstream media seriously when it comes to a review of an EA game.

The rankings were from GAMERANKINGS.com. Just tring to give everyone a heads up on the scores for people who have the game or want the game and dont know about the website.
DYNSTY25 you dont agree with the scores? I dont have the game yet but would like to know your opinion. I cant get myself to but a basketball game when football season is only 3 weeks old! Besides I am currently playing Madden, ESPN football, ESPN Hockey, Tiger Woods, and Def Jam. How do you have time to play anything else anymore?? This war between EA and ESPN is driving me crazy and broke, I'd like to tell these companies to slow the **** down and let me enjoy one game at a time without being slapped in the face all at once. Watch next year Madden 2006 will come out then 3 weeks later Madden 2007 will be out!
By the way I'm not a hockey fan I watch games from time to time but I'd like to say ESPN Hockey is a great game.

In all honesty you really cant judge game reviews anymore when it comes to a sports genre' that EA has a game out in. EA is like the big Microsoft corporation of video sports games. They have a big phat checkbook which = big phat reviews. Think about it, most of the people who run these online video game sites with reviews and what not (not talking about Operation Sports cuz this is more of a community)..but places like Gamepro, IGN, Gamespot, etc...there are humans behind the site who get "hooked up" from companies with big checkbooks like EA. Think about it..what if you were working for one of these sites and you were about to review an EA game and you knew that for the next few years EA was going to hook you up with the latest and greatest stuff they have to offer? Its nothing for EA to drop a little cash here and there on beta games, etc etc to get reviewers to give them good reviews. It's just become yellow journalism basically. Its so easy to write a review that you arent being honest about just to get a hook up from a game publisher..and that's what goes on. If you dont belive me about EA and thier deep pockets, look at how Sega has the ESPN sports franchise.. BUUUUT..when you go to ESPN the tv station the staff on Sportcenter, etc dont ever mention anything about the games Sega/VC is putting out. When they put up a video game replay, its from Madden, or Live, or NHL..heck even thier college football show is the EA College Football show. Hmmmmmm.......

Im not saying Live sucks this year, its better than last year...it's just that EA knows its loosing the battle as far as producing a better game than VC (not saying EA sucks, VC is just better at sports game)..so to get back on top without taking a huge hit in the pocket book (as in dropping thier titles to 19.99 as well) EA finds its cheaper to just grease the palms of magazine editors and reviews with hot new free "stuff" for the so they get a favorable review, which YOU read and makes you want to go buy thier product. Besides..EA is all about corporate greed. Dropping thier game price to 19.99 is something they COULD do but they dont wanna do that because they know once they drop it that low they cant raise it back up again for a long time without pissing off customers. They feel they at least for now have a huge enough of the market share that they dont have to resort to cuttin into thier profits (CEO Bonuses, etc) by dropping the price of thier game all the way down to 19.99...they are using other tactics first, cheaper tactics. Think about it..if Im EA and I give out..umm.. say 10,000 dollars worth of goodies and beta games IN TOTAL to the people who write reviews for the 5 or 6 major websites and publications..isnt that alot cheaper for me than to drop it to 19.99 for hundereds of thousands of consumers? Why do that when I can just hook up a handfull of people and let there be a "trickle down" effect. I blow 10 grand (chump change) get 5 or 6 good reviews..THE PUBLIC reads them..then wants to go buy thier game. Yeah its dirty, but its also smart. And no Im not a Sega fanboy..i honestly feel if everything were reversed and EA had a better game but VC had all the money, VC would probably do the same thing EA is doing now. Its just business...shady..but still business.
