    Because of the sliders...

Yup. But it seems honest to me. That's why I can't be mad...

I've come to a quick conclusion though.

I'll be starting my franchise/dynasty first with Live and not ESPN. I've played 2 games on both and I haven't given up on either one and will put more time in with both. But I'm going with Live first for the dynasty.

    Simple reasoning here.

ESPN needs tons of slider work. It's a GREAT game. Absolutely great. But the sliders seem more necessary in ESPN than they do in Live IMHO and I don't think anyone really knows right now how each ESPN sliders should work. I think it will be a good month before we see any real decent set of long-term franchise sliders for ESPN and since I'm enjoying Live so much, ESPN will be for practice and just fun exhibition games for me for the moment.

Live is so much fun to play.

Everyone do yourself a favor and pick any team. Even a team with a good big man. And play against the Miami Heat on All-Star. To a man, you CANNOT defend Shaq one-on-one in the post and that is the true beauty of this game IMO.

Live's post game is amazing! The headfakes, the spins (I haven't even used the drop-step yet), taking a jumper when you want to, taking a fadeaway when you want to, taking a hook when you want to. When I'm in the post, I know exactly what I want to do and I execute it. Not knocking ESPN in the least, but I have no clue as to what my man is gonna do in the post in ESPN. I'm sure in time I'll get better in that, but, out the box, Live gives me exactly what I'm looking for.

How do you defend Tracy McGrady in Live? You're basically at his mercy. Because he can Iso up top and either drive and kick, drive and pull up for a jumper (which he wouldn't do last year) or drive and dunk it down your throat. That's what I want to see and that's what I've seen so far. In ESPN, alot of different guys get the touches and most of the work is done down low off of putbacks. Again, not knocking ESPN, but some sliders need to be adjusted before I can see that and they're just not ready.

In Live, I know what needs adjusting- Blocks, Force Field, Fatigue, Subs, Pro Hop.

The player ratings seem fine to me.

This game seems like a fine-tuned version of Live 04 and I really, truly can't complain or gripe about anything that has really bothered me gameplay-wise.

Funny thing is, I haven't even went into the Dunk Contest yet. At this point, I don't even care about it. I like what they've shown me on the court.

Yes, I would love to see the CPU run plays. But you know what, when Shaq is just beasting in the post, I can only say, that's exactly what he's supposed to be doing.

    This game is a blast.

Great input bigeast , I'm still waiting to get both of NBA Live and ESPN. I'm getting Live on Monday and I'm getting ESPN 2 weeks later. So I can have a lot of time with Live and then get ESPN so I can rotate em both.

I agree 100%. It'll prolly be a week or so before I even fire up the dunk contest...I want to tweak the court game first.

Like everyone else it seems, the Heat were my first game...and to say he flat out dominated poor Z would be a gross understatement. Shaq had his way, with no cheese or funny bizness. Just headfakes, drop-steps and put backs. My hands couldn't hit the "double-team that mofo" button quick enough. He was a beast.

The CPU takes a fair share of J's right in your face, but other than that I have absolutely no gripe with the CPU's game. It's kicked my *** 4 times now.

My def rebounding also needs help. Shaq and Haslem were O-boarding me into oblivion...I always give up 15+ off rebs. Never has sucking at a game felt so good, this from a 2-time NBA champion on Live '04.

edit: minor gripe...some of the layup animations go behind the backboard far too often.

                    So you've seen it too?

Shaq is a complete freak of nature in this game and that's the way it's supposed to be. It is such a pleasure to have him completely manhandle my guy one-on-one in the post. The man gets to the line, he bowls you over. Someone tell me one time when Shaq hasn't been able to back you down in the post and I'll fly out to you and shake your hand.

This is exactly what I want because it forces you to make adjustments.

Once we get some good foul sliders set in place, we'll see some serious bench minutes from our backup Centers and Power Forwards because Shaq will draw some fouls.

I'm very pleased in this aspect of the game.

                        Lower the force field slider.

Also, call some picks. I believe the Down button is the default.

Probably the worst part about both games is the Force Field. NBA Live is good and so is ESPN but the force field is killing me in both (its called staggering D in ESPN)
